No wonder I keep uninstalling this thing.

You'll have to be more specific.

EndreWhiteMane: It needs Adobe Flash and Twitch Player.
Have you installed flash player yet?
avatar
Ixamyakxim: No - letting in session cookies for Twitch gave me a clickable spot in the blank video area to do that though (had forgotten I had to do this last time too LOL).

But oddly enough, when I go to the Flash page and download the initial 1.1MB Flash installer, the file I download has an image that looks "blacked out" instead of the red looking thing I think I'm supposed to be running. And when I double click on it, it opens a blank Download Manager from Adobe. I wonder if I'm being impatient or if something is wrong :(
From this page?

Well first of all I would check that you have the correct URL and I'd make sure to unmark the McAfee download option.

Yup that's the one.

Oh I've been doing that LOL.

Could the problem be that I have my "Desktop" and "Download" folders pointing to a different drive than the Windows drive? If so, where is a "safe" place to save and run the file from on my C: drive (Windows partition).

C:\temp or C:\Windows\temp would be fine but it really shouldn't matter.
The Adobe site isn't the most reliable so you may want to just try it again a bit later.
Flash always has been a pain in the rear end. :/

It does look like this might be the case (and now that you mention it I do think I've had problems in the past with it hanging - years and years ago trying to do Acrobat installs LOL). If not I'll give the Temp files a shot, thanks!

Hi,
Possibly I'm missing something here, but I'll try to give some advice :)
I've been using Firefox for a long time on windows and the 'open menu' -> 'add-ons' buttons get me to a search screen and there it's easy to get things rolling... But often things are not that easy and I've got to go do a google search on the lines, 'app-name firefox app' ...
My other computer on the other hand has been having problems with flash but then again that's a Linux Mint build.
So you have the right version and everything checks? like not 64-bit for 32-bit system or something...

by the way, as a side note... and I love cats and other cute things... but this Fran Bow looks like an awesome, kick-ass game :) http://images-1.gog.com/d7ce3b5b902f65e3d9f204de4280e46e77d980b2f043ba74c0e0082cb0665921.jpg

Seems like I had the right version - and I was actually hoping I could use the addon button to get the plugin I needed but the only stuff there looks like it's more for viewing other types of video feeds in Flash :(

Ah yes, sorry, tried that and yeah that's not so helpful.
Can't think of anything right now.
Aside from uninstalling Firefox and anything related and installing it again and then trying... but maybe that's of no use.

I'm not even an adventure gamer and it has my attention. Like Tim Burton meets Beetlejuice meets Roahl Dahl.

Also, got it up and running! I had to right click and "Unblock" the file under the Properties tab. I thought running the thing in Admin mode would take care of any of that, but I guess not.

Any way to see where it installed? I've been trying to be more proactive in selecting such things, but the installer didn't give me any options. Does it just "push" Flash right into my browser and OS? Or could it have actually installed some stuff in a directory where I might not want it?

Wherever your browser(s) plugin folder is.
Edit: And probably a bit in C:\Program Files\Adobe

I know I shouldn't judge and all, but I do anyways.

But when somebody asks how do the audio books from humble bundle work. That's someone who doesn't even bother to read a basic faq and is asking to be spoon fed.

And it makes me facepalm.

That all sounds unnecessarily complicated. The moment you mentioned that the download icon wasn't what it was supposed to be I imagined your file must be either corrupted or not-what-it-seems.

You have of course re-downloaded, and checked on adobe's version check page wether it's working or not?

That was my first thought as well - I was just being overly worried (and it turns out the icon DID look like it was supposed to - I don't know why I thought it should be red).

I'm all set now - oddly enough I needed to adjust a setting under General in the properties tab. I thought 1) the fact that I was running it in admin mode and 2) that it was actually asking me permission to run it would take care of all that.

Funny enough, not altering the toggle DID let the program execute, but then the Adobe Download Manager would just display blank grey box. Once I changed the setting and ran the installer again, that blank grey box displayed what it needed to and did its thing! I was able to watch a bit of Fallout Tactics, I missed Fran Bow ;) All was not lost!
I'm looking at the twitch fallout tactics broadcast.

Reminds me a lot of commandos.
