ElTerprise: Well it's sold on Steam so i don't see a reason for Bethesda to offer it here for free as much as i would like that. But maybe we get something like the Wolf Pack here (W3D, Spear of Destiny and RTCW). Afaik Wolfenstein 2009 is unfortunately of of those games in licence hell.
I'm not sure if GOG can release any part of the Wolfenstein series without region locks. It's easy to hide swastikas and the like when they are limited to two secret levels, but when the game openly advertises what it's about, well, it's suddenly much more difficult.

CarrionCrow: It was extreme surprise, in a good way.

If Bethesda's willing to play ball here, I'm willing to buy from them. Will end up grabbing at least the Elder Scrolls and Id bundles when I can.
Wait, so your monitor wasnt hit by a torrent of high pressure caffeinated liquid?
Dayum, I lost.

Well i could mention other games here that show Swastikas without being region locked but i'm expecting something like that in case they want to release them here. I mean Bethesda made it impossible to even install the new Wolfenstein games in Germany without using a vpn...

*sigh* i still hope for that videogames will be fully accepted as art in Germany because at that point no one has to worry about the depiction of swastikas...

How prominently are they shown, though? Wolfenstein 3D explicitly mentions in its description that you are fighting Nazis.

Sorry, can't say I went that far. Woke up, opened up GOG expecting nothing since it's Wednesday, saw Bethesda stuff there, muttered holy crap, then looked to see what the bundles contained. After that it was doing what I'm doing now, which is thinking how in the hell am I going to have time to play all that while playing all the Gold Box stuff.
OK I'm just going to ask the question once and for all...

Is the Elder Scrolls bundle on GOG worth getting at its sale price, to someone entirely new to Elder Scrolls games? In particular, is Morrowind easy to get into, or are there caveats such as clunky controls or complicated gameplay?

I actually don't know....i was talking about Medal of Honor for example. Well it's interesting that a game in which you fight Nazis is banned. Because of the depiction of swastikas. And there are clearly double standards there. Freedom of Arts grants movies the right to depict those (no matter how prominently they're shown) but games are not treated equally.

Interestingly enough, Medal of Honor: Airborne is also not regionally-locked on Steam. I know, different game, but it also has Nazis in it. I wonder if publishers decide to apply regional-locking, not so much for the game's content, but the way the game is presented.

As for the movies, I heard that they are allowed to show swastikas in Germany, as long as it is considered educational, but they are still not allowed to use swastikas as promotional material.

See this? Now I have to accept hugs and am not allowed to use the cattle prod, and it's all your fault!

CarrionCrow: Fallout 3 is for explorers. The story isn't great, but exploring, doing quests, finding new things to check out, that process is really the best part of the new series, I think.
TRUTH!
Even if I did like the main storyline I have to say that what I enjoyed the most was just walking around the wasteland, looking for sidequests and secrets and stuff to do. I wanted to explore the sad post-apocalyptic world, face its dangers and see what it had to offer, while listening to the soft hauntingly melancholic music.

I didn't like exploring the metro tunnels that much though.

The fact that it was my first foray into the fallout-verse made it even more entertaining. I was constantly on the lookout for any piece of information that would give me a further glimpse into the rich background history of its retro-futuristic world. The vaults, the 1950's red scare mentality, the hypocritical naivete. It was all beautiful and I loved every part of it.

And yet people keep telling me that 1& 2 are the superior storytellers.
I hope there's a big sale coming. Going to need one to balance out all the retail or lesser release discounts I'll be hitting soon.

Yeah, wasn't a fan of the tunnels either. But overall, the main draw by far was questing and exploring. The inevitable inventory management that goes with that isn't great, but to an extent that can be amusing when you start with basically nothing and end up with a bedroom/arsenal that would put a medium-sized army to shame.

Yes. It's not really logical.. but afaik Steam sells the censored European PEGI version and not the American one of Airborne. But W3D and RTCW are also technically not strictly region locked. It's possible to install and play them and i think it might be even possible to redeem keys of them in Germany....the whole situation is a mes...
I'm not sure about the reasons of region locking because both Dead Rising 2 +3 (and Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition) are also region locked probably because of high violence....

Well would you consider both Indiana Jones and Inglorious Basterds or something like Iron Sky educational?
But it's true. I remember that from Inglorious Basterds where the Posters had to be edited...

That's a good question. It's been some years since i last played Morrowind. Well the game isn't that streamlined but very immersive imho....but the combat is frankly not the best (apparently all TES games suffer from that)

BUt I'd say you should wait for a sale. The price is quite high indeed...

Fun times with the fatman.

although I used it mostly to blow up the behemoths. For everything else... my trusty unique plasma rifle.
It was very satisfying to see those deathclaws reduced to green goo.

Yeah, a bit too high, I think most everyone will wait for a sale.

Only to realize that they won't discount it any lower.

As for getting into it, I only hear high praise for the game... except for the real time travelling. I hope you're ready to spend 30 minutes walking from one zone to the next to unlock the warp points, because there is no fast travel and it is HUEG!!!.

Or you can install a fast-travel mod.

Good advice.... man I really want to give Bethesda money for their decision to come to GOG, but honestly it's more than I want to pay for those games.

Good night =)
