sigh...

The battery in my laptop runs at 31% capacity according to desktop warnings. I'd try getting a replacement, but the good OEM batteries cost half as much as what I paid for the whole computer! O_O

Oh well, I run it on AC power most of the time anyway.

Battery's already at 38% and it's only been a half hour.

Fantasysci5: I tried to make giveaways for the GOG Steam gifts, accidently chose the wrong group and can't change it. *headdesk * -_-
Uh...hopefully there is a way to sort that out *fingers crossed* :)

Good evening
What? Why are they that expensive....?

Hell if I know. There are some Chinese knock-off batteries that cost a lot less, however I don't think they don't have a good reputation.

Well i probably would trust either but i'm really surprised about what you said about the price....is it an older laptop model? Might that be the reason?

My laptop's a ThinkPad w500. 2008 I think.

Might be then....i don't know for how long Lenovo replacement stuff for their laptops...i mean they don't even release any new drivers for my 2012 IdeaPad...have to use the Windows 8 (not 8.1) Power Management stuff on Win10....

But then again...it's a ThinkPad..

To butt in ... I always use thinkpads and have found parts for them easily whenever I needed (not cheap but there's alot of resellers (I guess they buy broken thinkpads and sell the individiual parts) which is great for keeping you laptop a long time.
As for the software side, I don't trust lenovo at all. I always make a clean install of linux and windows and don't use any of their bundled tools. And I'm glad I do what with that wretched Superfish business...

Well that's not bad...but the price is exactly what we were talking about.

Thankfully i didn't have any hardware problems with my IdeaPad because i fear getting replacement for that might not be that easy....
But i also always make clean installs. But in the case of Windows 10 i had some driver issues...Lenovo won't officially support Windows 10 on my machine at all...

I see, well as for the w500 the batteries aren't that expensive I think (around 20€ on ebay) but then again maybe the notebook was really a bargain ;)

As for drivers, yeah I see how that can be a problem. Well I guess I've been lucky in not needing any lenovo drivers for my stuff yet (I think) using arch linux and sometimes win7

I don't know...but that might explain it.
Well funnily enough Linux Mint 17.2 runs flawlass on that laptop. No driver issues at all :)
