Hello madame Owl!
My father shoved a few cult classic bd's in french into my hands a few weeks ago (la quete de l'oiseau du temps). They were very light hearted, funnily drawn, and there was a lot of french verbal vulgarity and richness of expression. I was really struck at some points simply by the ingenuity of the way simple things were elaboratly and stylisedly put into words in ways that warranted a giggle or two.
And of course, if a generaly quiet character lands in a heap of burning thistles and exclaims "oeah, ca me brule mon cul !!" , there is room for hilarity aplenty ;)
