l0rdtr3k: It's kinda hard to find people who like JRPGs here in Brazil, especially Atlus made games.
Interesting but i assume that's a common in many western countries.

Unfortunetely for me since I can't speak of this and most people don't care when I speak it.

Glad you didn't break Debian. I know I noobishly broke it a few times during my past Linux history =)
(fglrx drivers for example, they completely fu##ed up my system)

PlayOnLinux will be used for one less game on my PC. (I still use it for HoMM 3, since that game works better with older versions of Wine)

I can imagine that this is a problem indeed. But atleast on the forum are you can talk about it.

Yes thanks. But i'm still not entirely sure on how to get multimedia codecs etc....
Oh i had so much trouble with fglrx drier when i used Xubuntu on the same machine that i completely avoid them now.

Edit: But even then it's easier to fix a broken Linux system than a Windows system imho

That's why I steered clear of Double Fine's GF remaster during the weekly staff pick. It only supports the proprietary AMD drivers for some reason. I'm not even sure if it still works on the open source ones.

Multimedia codecs? Hmmm I dunno, have you looked in the documentation?

Well i read some conflicting stuff about it because there is a multimedia repo but it's apparently only unofficial....oh well i don't know how many of those codecs anyway.

That's bad. I mean the nvidia ones work perfectly fine on my laptop but the proprietary AMD only caused trouble. I have no idea why Double Fine made that a requirement...

I remember reading somewhere that it is because of the shaders they used in the remaster, or something. I don't know. Still, I'm starting to get the feeling that if any software company needs to learn from bad software design decisions, it's Double Fine.

Oh they definitely have to learn from their bad decisions and i can absolutely understand that some people won't buy any of their games after all they've done in the past like the abandonment of Spacebase DF-9 (?)

That was a clusterpluck. The final release still feels like an alpha, or even a prototype. It shouldn't be sold at all in its current state.
I loved their earlier games though. Psychonauts of course, plus Costume Quest and Stacking. Brilliant games.
