AgentBirdnest: Goodness... step away for some lunchfast, and the thread finally explodes \o/

Good mornoon, new arrivals :-)
And to think I put you in charge of making sure this place kept alive. What if Owl comes back and finds the forum dead, all because Agent just had to eat. :-)

Good morning!

How are you today?

*big hug*

avatar
ElTerprise: Thank you. Well not much planned - probably relaxing and continuing to restore my files back to my computer after installed Win10 on it.

I read it. Six hours. That sounds awful....
How are you liking Window 10? I have heard a lot of people hate it, especially the tracking and privacy features and things like that.

avatar
akhliber: I finally understand why Sarge and I get along so well: neither of us know shame. I'm also beginning to understand why we never have guests. ;)

...okay, i did something wrong with the formatting here. I'm blaming the sleepy.
Either being sleepy, or too busy seeing if you are dog enough not to lick yourself. Be careful, you could do yourself and injury. :-)

Are you looking forward to your holiday?

avatar
FearfulSymmetry: *hug* Even so, I can think of more fun things to do. ;) At least it's over with now and you can concentrate on having a nice evening.

I'm doing fine. :) The weekend should be all right, I don't have much planned other than having to watch my mother's dog tomorrow, so there will be no sleeping in. :P
So could I. The last few times I have had my partner with me to keep me company, but she had to work today. Six hours sure can be boring when stuck in a hospital. :-)

That does not sound too bad. Relaxing and sleeping in can be fun, especially as you will soon be back to studying and all that hard work.

Yep, being at a hospital is definitely boring, especially when you have no one with you. Entertaining yourself with a book only works for so long. :P

True enough. I just got the first of my study books for next semester in the mail today. :P

FearfulSymmetry: I'm okay. My tooth is still a bit tender but other than that things are good, and my doctor just referred me to a specialist, which is nice as well, as it will hopefully mean things will become a bit clearer. :)
I see. Well good to hear that things are good aside from the tenderness. A specialist? I hope it's nothing serious...

Yes the tracking is not that great but i disabled as much of these features as possible. But frankly most of these tracking was already present in 8. and 8.1. That doesn't make it any better but i think some people might be a bit picky about that because they tend to forget the tracking "features" in smartphones and other mobile devices....i'm not overly happy about those features but with my current setup i can live with it because other than that i'm really liking Win10. It's definitely an improvement over 8. and 8.1 and it's fast and stable for me thus far.
avatar
ddickinson: In that case I won't take all the coffee, I would hate to leave you with a pounding headache. :-)

I am not sure how much walking I will be up to, but some nice fresh air will be great. At least the one good thing about it all is that I get more time with my partner, so that is good.

It can be hard to find a game to play. You would think that with the more games we get the easier it would become, but I think it gets worse as we are too spoilt for choice.
Right, a chance to get out of the house at least, maybe get some sun so you don't feel quite so pale.

It's like going to the video store. (Back when video stores existed.) The more they had, the harder it was to pick one or two things. Now I have more games than the local store ever did, and the choice gets that much trickier.

ElTerprise: Good afternoon Agent *big hug*
How are you today?
Mevernoonighting, ElT *big return hug*
Doing okay today. I was just looking at Stellaris. It will probably be way too complicated for me :-p Anything you'd recommend for a grand strategy newbie who is interested but scared to try the genre?

Yeah, but that won't be for like 9 days. I'll worry about it then :-p
Besides, she'd be happy I was eating. Due to my nausea, I hadn't eaten in a while. I was beginning to get pretty weak.
Doing fine at the moment :-)

*extra big return hug*

ElTerprise: Hello. That sounds really good actually :)
Well day's okay but i'm doing mostly good (see above)...
avatar
akhliber: I hope your headache improves! :)
Thank you. =) No worries, though, I added enough caffeine to keep withdrawal pain at bay.
It seems my chat is broken again. I wonder if it is due to them implementing the blocking features. Probably just another glitch.

I still can't read for too long, so sadly a book was not really an option for me. At least it is done now, and I don't have to be back for a week or so.

I remember you saying that you has spend a lot on books. Will they all arrive before your semester starts?
avatar
ElTerprise: I see. Well good to hear that things are good aside from the tenderness. A specialist? I hope it's nothing serious...
No, don't worry. It's just a number of small complaints that have dragged on for a while and that probably have something to do with each other. My ears and nose are kind of problematic, they always have been, but as of late things have gotten worse so I thought it was time to let someone examine it properly.
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: Oh, stop reminding me of that! :P I was doing such a good job trying not to think about the release date!
Only 12 days, 5 hours, 29 minutes or so to go. ;)

And now, I'm being called away to run errands. Hooray. Back as quickly as possible.

Argh, that's even more boring then. :( You're right, at least it's over, now on to more fun things for the weekend!

If all goes well, yes. I ordered some books from the German Amazon website and two of the three showed up today. What I find especially hilarious is that while I do have to pay for shipping on the English Amazon website, I don't have to do so on the German one, even though the tracking function of my order is telling me my books are being shipped from England anyway. I ordered most of my books on a Dutch website, though, and those should show up within the next week and a half if all goes well.

Sitting here, looking out on Lake Superior, and someone in a canoe. This is where Darwinism kicks in and the less capable of us clear the way to help strengthen the gene pool. :P

Your coffee habits sound a lot like mine. I depend on the stuff, but I can't say it's for any sort of actual "pick me up" anymore, aside from the placebo effect of just going through the cup-of-coffee ritual. But it's not until I've had at least a second pot that I actually feel any stimulant effects.
I'm actually back down to drinking about 2 pots a day (after getting as bad as 5+ pots a day for a while) so it's more just there for the comfort of it than anything else.

I see. Being okay seems a common theme today :)
I don't know. Paradox games got way accessible over the last years (they're still not easy though :p).
Hmm...from the Paradox games i'd say Crusader Kings II might be the easiest.

That's good to hear. Hopefully visiting the specialist will help then :)

Hmmm....looks like the forum's working again....

Did the gogbears eat my reply? I just noticed it's not here. Odd. I am definitely looking forward to our little vacation. It still hasn't fully sunk in that we're actually taking one. We'll be spending most of this weekend getting the house in order and figuring out just what-all we aim to accomplish while in the mountains (we don't leave until the 16th, so still plenty of time to prepare... but we often get very little done on weekdays, so we're getting a head start.) I can't wait!
*and trust, I injure myself doing things like checking the mail and getting things out of the fridge, so I won't be risking it with the licking. That'd be a tough one to explain to a hospital emergency staff. ;)

Hmm, I think some of the Care Bear Bandaids holding the GOG server together are coming loose...
