tinyE: I would imagine in the outback it gets fucking freezing but how cold can you expect a major city to get in the winter?
Not as cool as what you see,but when your accustumed to the area weather it's cold enough.
During winter and no laughing please it will be between 0 and 14c.

EndreWhiteMane: With all the games I have to play I was replaying Zork 1 for the 20th time this morning. :-)
avatar
penumbren: Haha. I have all of the Zork games sitting in a corner staring at me. I played the original three years and years ago and am now at the point of not remembering the puzzles, so I may end up swearing at them an awful lot once I get to them. I would really love for GOG to release the other Infocom games - somewhere, I still have Seastalker in a box in a storage, complete with red viewer and all the hint cards. Heck, if they added HHGTTG as a freebie, I'd be ecstatic, because that one I can probably still do from memory. :D
Doesn't take long to forget some of the outrageous responses and humor you get in the game.
Even dying is a blast. :-)

Exactly! For some odd reason, my patience for text adventure games is far greater than for most modern games; I remember spending at least twenty minutes figuring out the damned Babel Fish and surrounding puzzles in HHGTTG, but I spent the entire time laughing, not getting frustrated. (if anyone ever didn't spent HOURS reading every single Guide entry in that game, I pity them for the amazing things they missed out on.) Most of the reason for that is the humor. I don't know that there are many games that have ever equaled the humor of the Zork games.

I'm excepting anything that Douglas Adams did, because I'm biased; I've listened to/watched/read everything he had a hand in and loved all of it*. Somewhere I have a hardback copy of Last Chance to See, which was brilliant without being preachy, and that's a hard balance to strike.

* Oh, wait. There was that fifth book in the HHGTTG trilogy. ...........I've only read that one once. Because I couldn't ever bring myself to touch it again. It was horribly, horribly obvious that he didn't want to write it, didn't want to tell that story, and indeed didn't want to have anything to do with HHGTTG ever again, and only did it to finally end the story with such a definitive "FUCK YOU" that no one could ever argue with him about it ever again.

I have a copy of Last Chance to See that I've never got around to. I'll have to find that tomorrow.

OK, folks, I'm off for the night. See y'all tomorrow.
Seasonal Greetings From the Land of Mega Cold!

Tiberian Sun! Reading about it here... never played it! Soooo want it now! I remember not having a pc when it came out.

Dammit, got this semi-serious headache since yesterday. Still at least two hours till the pharmacy opens, I think.

It's a good read. It makes its point, but it's also funny and entertaining, and it's a good read.

Have a good night!
