moonshineshadow: We go the SNES for Christmas. That was really cool. Of course we were not allowed to play how much we wanted (my mum was really strict with that) but we had so much fun with it over the years. And also fun when my mum played for example Mario with us, since she died a lot and for us kids it was so great to be better than her. But I have to say, that seeing her play now, I suspect she sometimes just died because we kids found it so funny ;-)

FearfulSymmetry: Aww, that sounds so awesome! Great family bonding time. :) I'm always trying to get my parents to play games with me but they never want to, unfortunately. Still, my dad likes movies just like me and both of them enjoy reading, so we've got some things to share.
Yeah it is really nice. I remember last Christmas, we got the new Mario Kart and when we started playing it, my dad was like "ah no, racing games are not my thing, I am probably really bad", but then we convinced him to try and he got really into it and in the end was the one most enthusiastic about the game :D

AgentBirdnest: Good evenoon, everyone! *tips my helmet to everyone, and hugs anyone who wants one*

Here I am again today, making another long and emotional post :-p ... but this one is much different. Much more personal to me, and I just wanted to express my appreciation...

I woke up feeling pretty down today. My head was aching quite badly, and I was having some pretty bad nausea (both are common problems for me. It's nothing new, and is not serious.) As usual, I came to the thread, and when I said that I was only "okay" today, our amazing, lovely, kind and caring Owl immediately wanted to help me... Obviously. That's what she does :-)
She offered to let me PM her (err... "chat") anytime and help take my mind off things. I finally decided to take the offer for once. I'm really overwhelmed at the result... Our wonderful little Owl talked to me all day, very effectively cheering me up, keeping my spirits high, and taking my mind off things. I ended up feeling much better, and being able to ignore my physical problems all day thanks to her :-)
I honestly don't have enough words to express how grateful I am... I wish there were better words... I'm afraid that the best I can come up with is....... Thank you, LaPtiteBete, from the bottom of my heart. You helped me so much today. You are my Guardian Owl :'-) **Biggest, most epic, happy, and crushing thank you hug of all time...**

If everyone could do me a quick favor? ... Please +1 every one of her posts until your fingers bleed, or the internet explodes, or the sun dies... Whichever comes first. Give her plenty of extra awesome hugs too, if you can :-)
( are [url=http://www.gog.com/forum/general/conversational_freeforall_thread/post47593]a few from today to practice on...)
That's so great that she helped you feeling better *big hug* :D
I have to find some more posts of her!

That's awesome. Well my parents aren't really into video games - we rather played board games - and they were also quite strict about the playtime of my sister and me (on pc).
Eevvning!

Back from work-on-holiday trip to read this thread and play Trails in the sky! :) I made it to chapter 2 after 33 hours of playing.
Good to hear Agent has been cheered up properly and accordingly! :)

Here cooking and anything food-related tends to lighten the mood if things ever get too depressing.

Board games are also great. We play them a lot. And we have tons of them, since my mum likes to have a big collection to choose from, so she buys a new one every Christmas :-)
What is your favourite board game at the moment?

Well Catan is one all-time favourites but really enjoy Carcassonne at the moment. What is your favourite?

Carcassonne is really nice. Catan I have to admit I played it too often, so I tend to avoid it a bit :D My favourite at the moment is "Zug um Zug". Really like that game, of course part of it may be because I win this game 90% of the time ;-)

Yes. I also think that we play Catan a bit too much. Never played Zug um Zug. Will take a look at it. Currently i try to get parents to lay Dominion with me because i really want to try that one out.

Yes, Dominion is really fun. And because of the way it is set up, it never gets boring because every time you play it, it is a bit different. And if you should ever get bored with the base games, there are expensions which offer even more potential for different variations.
If you want to play Zug um Zug, you should choose the original one (this), in my opinion it is the best.

I've only played enough of 2 of them to give any opinions... Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocol. (New Vegas would be my favorite.)
