l0rdtr3k: Unfortunetely my CC has a very low credit limit so I'll miss a lot from the sales.
But at least you can still get some games, and have been gifted a few games. So the sale is not a total loss. Plus there will be more sales in the future.
Good evening, one and all!

Hath each of thee gloried in this day of GOGular splendour and revelled in friendship’s warmth?

Hath each of thee also played thy games of discounted price and smiled at the succulent fruits within?

For myself, my day hast been a bag of mixtures, all pleasant, culminating this warm eve with humorous enjoyment as Lo Wang and his demonic companion go about their sharp and bloody business. Tis a game to wallow and delight in, but to also keep a distance from for fear of getting splashed red.

Speak, tell me your tales!

ddickinson: I think the advantage of the smaller games is the illusion of progress. You see the downloader bar flying by as game after game is downloaded. It makes us think we are doing great. But then when we get to the big games, it's hour after hour with little progress, which makes us believe things are going to take forever. But you will get there, and hopefully now with Galaxy or the update log you will not have to do this again.

Thank you. I am sure it will work out okay, I have just had a lot on my mind recently.
That makes sense, the classic issue of time perception, along with the feeling of, "Okay, if the internet decides to die for some indeterminate amount of time for some unknown reason, at least I'll have more titles restored since I was doing a lot of smaller ones rather than a few very large ones."

Like I said, it's a bunch of silliness for my brain to chew on in place of anything substantial. -laughs-

That sounds like the far shittier flavor of insomnia...the kind fueled by your brain refusing to shut up about whatever it's processing.
Hopefully it gets whatever the issue is resolved before you head off to work one very early morning and have no energy whatsoever to do what you need to.

I am pretty sure Vikings did not say things like Hath and Thee. :-)

Good evening! Glad to hear you have had a nice day.

All is good here, very tired due to lack of sleep, but other than that I am good. No games though, just work and a quiet evening with my partner.

Good evening. =)

-laughs- No grand tales as of yet, since I don't think me concocting new and colorful names for my internet connection counts as a particularly riveting tale.

But on a brighter note, it sounds like you're having a good amount of fun slicing creatures to bits. =)

Do you have a time frame for when your area's new internet infrastructure will be implemented? I imagine you are looking forward to faster internet speeds. Let's hope they don't slap a bandwidth limit on you once you get faster speeds.

It is worrying that is keeping me away, and my brains inability to shut off about some things. But hopefully it will be okay. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some closure to the issue (one way or another), or next week by the latest, if all goes well.

Good suggestion, but my mind is not ready for bed at the moment. I will try in a little while, but for the last few nights I have just ended up laying in bed not being able to sleep. Which is not all bad, I get to watch my partner sleep, which is not an unpleasant sight at all. :-)

ddickinson: I would not think so. I think it was a big database move, a one time thing. I guess the lost PMs are just seen as collateral damage caused by the new system. But who knows with GOG.
You're probably right. It took some time to get most of the conversations back but that was some weeks ago....i don't like that at all...

l0rdtr3k: 1-3.Wanted to buy 4-Chronicles and the Lego games but it would be above my limit.
Oh...well but 1-3 and especially 2 are great games :) (although it's been some years since i played them)

l0rdtr3k: *wobbles*I'm doing fine. Will go to my french class late than play a session of Age of Wonders and Tomb Raider.
Can I ask you a few questions about Age of Wonders? This is one I was always super interested in "back in the day" (along with Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns). Imagine how excited I was to receive it as a GoG freebie not too long ago.

So I fired it up for the first time about a week or two ago and it's unplayable. On my monitor I find it near impossible to distinguish individual units on the tactical map and it's quite hard to select them to boot. I barely made it through tutorial island, which was a huge let down for me as I was hoping to put a bit of time into this one.

What size monitor and resolution did you play this in? Did you find ways to avoid the problems I mentioned, or is this just something unique to my setup? I was turned off enough by my first try that I might not go back to it, but just in case I do I'm hoping maybe you can offer something to make it a bit easier to enjoy...

I never knew what a blast it is, and what a treat on the eyes! I'm liking it and laughing and have hacked my way through most of what I've done. Screw the guns, blades are FUN! Its a novelty actually playing a game without downloading one or keeping an eye on little blue bars. A pleasure I hope you can enjoy yourself before you're much older.

Drowning in games! Finding which one to play is a game all and of itself! ;) But yes I have fired up one or two, fully enjoying them and sadly enough already gnashing at the teeth wondering what will be next! ;)

It's due to be available in the middle of next month. I'll keep in touch with them starting at the end of the second week so I can immediately switch over when it becomes available.
Was told I'll need to switch out my modem, but otherwise there won't be any changes. (Aside from a higher monthly fee, of course.)

Hopefully so, and much sooner than next week. Your workload isn't exactly compatible with multiple days of sleeplessness.

Glad to hear that you're having fun playing Shadow Warrior :)

I've played a small bit of the newer version, but it was enough to know what you mean regarding the sword.
Guns can't hold a candle to that for visceral enjoyment.

You're right, having that stupid nagging feeling of things being incomplete go away will be great.
Looking forward to that quite a bit.
One upshot to it all - It's very clear that there are some games in my collection that are low priority. If I cherry pick the ones I feel strongly about, the remaining concern about finishing should be minimized somewhat since I'll already have what I prefer.

I was playing Kingdom Rush and for the first few levels was feeling happy, but then the difficulty levels became very uneven and it degenrated into a case of frustration management. Until that point I was thinking it was like Plants Vs Zombies, which I really enjoyed, but it became way inferior and I've uninstalled and put it in my 'Meh' folder. Good thing GOG does sales, or I'd have been more piqued.
