Stilton: We've been planning a house move since about 1850, at least it seems that long (if any reading this recall my long ago announcement, no, it still hasn't happened) but we're seeing a house on Saturday that we all like the look of. Its in a beautiful part of Wiltshire and perfect for a new addition to the family. Our daughter has wanted a dog for ages (where we live now isn't really the right place) and judging by the fun you're having, and move permitting (please let it work this time), fingers crossed pretty soon we'll be a foursome. It'll do all of us a lot of good.
Hi Stilton, I was searching for the post about your daughter, and stumbled on this one. Sending many positive vibes and thoughts for you and your family, for the wonderful home that is in your future, the puppy to come, and especially for the medical appointment which I think is today.

Fingers and toes will be crossed for you all day....

ZenWan: Good morning / evening, to the greens (@Crow, @Hyper, @Ixamyakxim (or @unpronounceable for short), and anyone else who is reading this.

I sympathise with you about the heat - as you know. At 4.15am it was 28C - 82.4F in my little office. The fan is helping, although not a lot. Can't open the door, there are already half a hundred mosquitoes in here, chewing on me.

I keep saying that i'd sell my soul for rain - hell, I'd give my soul away for rain - but nobody wants it (my soul, that is). It's a sad thing when arguably your most precious asset is deemed worthless by others.

Big sigh.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sale that has taken every last bit of money you had been saving to spend on food. <evil grin>

As I typed, @Hyper was gone! @Endre I only just missed - sleep well and wake to cool breezes.
Good morning. =)

Sheesh, your office sounds like the area my computer is in. Only difference is, my tradeoff is having very little ventilation in exchange for not having to deal with mosquitoes. If I had to deal with that on top of the heat, I'd probably freak out a bit.

I was just thinking that it's going to be at least 3 months of this crap. That thought did not make me happy.
Would rather live in a place where it rains all the time, hands down.

I wouldn't say that. Pretty sure the powers that be (if you're of a mindset that they exist at all) don't give much of a crap about souls. It'd be like an ant offering its soul to a giant. The scales are too vast for the latter to even notice.

-laughs- Still have food here, fortunately. The day I get to a point where a sale on video games takes higher priority than basic survival is the day I tell GOG to delete my account and take up a completely different hobby.

Aside from the heat, the mosquitoes, the lack of rain and the still healing cat injuries, I hope you're doing at least okay today.

Hi to you, Crow, always good to see you.

I really do sound as though I'm always whining, sorry for that. We both know how the heat gets to you after a while, but I have the amazing blessing of being close to the sea, at least for now.
That early morning walk on the cliffs with the cool sea breezes, the birds and the wonderful view is about as close to heaven as I think I've ever been.

Glad you still have food, you sound like a pretty good cook too. Hope the day you close your account never comes, GOG would be greatly the poorer without you. :-)

Editing out the odd word, I do tend to overuse some words!

To me, it sounds like you want to be in a different place. Can't say I blame you there, wouldn't mind being in a different place myself.
Maybe you and I can both win the lottery, and then we can both be in our preferred destinations.

No worries there, it's looking more like I'll finally catch up and clear my list. Won't be shutting down when I'm approaching the point where I can finally take a break from acquiring things.

-laughs- You aren't the only one. I tend to go back and fix it when I find I've used the same word too frequently in a comment.

Good morning Crow and ZenWan! :)

How does your computer deal with that sort of heat?
I would think playing demanding newer games might add more heat to the rooms?
Perhaps you don't have any problems like this... I have a Asus laptop with NVidia and supposedly a good ventilation thing... Sometimes I fear what will happen when I take it with me to travel in warmer countries...

Lottery is what I have my eye on. The Euro millions is over a hundred million this week, I think. I'd settle for just one million, I'm not greedy.

'I can finally take a break from acquiring things'....

<tries very hard not to laugh out loud, doesn't succeed... :-D
Btw. Also If you win lottery or acquire money somehow, did you know there's a rainy season in South East Asia... Laos and such... Especially can vouch for Laos. Just rain all day! ;)
Sorry didn't mean to tease you...

Good morning, superstande, I always smile when I see your posts, partly your avatar, but just you in general. :-)

I have opened the door wide now, so the fresh cool air is flooding in, which is great. My computer doesn't like the heat much at all, I'm sure. I've lost 2 hard drives in the last 6 months, had to replace a couple of fans as well.

Wish I had a fast laptop so I could take it outside in the mornings, at least.

That's a good make, ASUS, and I'm sure it will deal well with most things you throw at it. Just don't sit with it in the midday sun if you're in southern Spain or Portugal. Although that would probably kill you before it killed the computer. ;-)

<laughing>!

There's rain, and then there's RAIN. I think I'll look for something a little less extreme, and with much less humidity. :-)
Forests, I want forests... and cool gentle rain, not monsoons....

I'm not picky, really.

Editing to say my system isn't up to the big new games, but the older, smaller ones I play seem to do ok. I do a lot of fine-tuning to keep things running, and I have a lot of patience. :-)

Got to go, time to head for the cliffs and the sea breezes - time to refresh the soul.

It's a holiday here in Portugal today. That means the fireworks should be starting soon, they like to set off fireworks as soon as it's light.
Not sure why, if you can't see them, but you can surely hear the noise. ;-)

Take care, everyone. I'll try to stop by later,

Good morning. =)

I downloaded a program a while back that monitors my computer heat. I keep an eye on it during hot days to make sure everything's at an acceptable level.

And yes, you're right, anything that's more demanding on the processors makes the heat rise quite a bit.
It's definitely noticeable.

I responded to your question in the other thread as well as chat. Mentioning it here since I'm not sure how well your notifications are working.

Enjoy the walk and the scenery, and have a good day. Talk with you later on. =)

Good to hear you are both aware of the heating mainframes :)
Yeah cliffs sound terrific, and breezes can do amazing things to you.
I guess fans and breezes are the way to go where you guys are :)

I'm thinking possibly next year, and this is gonna take some major preparations and saving... going to Asia for a long trip. I have witnessed an April in Laos, and I was sweating way too much just sitting in a shade with a fan, reading a book. But at least I didn't get fat, in fact stayed rather thin even though I was eating all the time :)

Edit: wondering if second-hand laptops are cheap these days, at least those that have just enough tech for Baldur's Gates and such... shouldn't be too expensive?

Moin everyone *big hugs and waves*
How are you all doing?
Hey everyone! Are you all doing all right?

I just went to my physical therapist this morning and my neck movement is already loads better. Hopefully this means the headaches will go away too. So it's a good morning. :)
