gee i hope they can do more mac game conversions/versions, too bad they don't have them, some of the old games are classics and when the mac versions of them came out it was great, at least steam does them. too bad would have spent a lot of $$$ on some of them.....its like a nightmare reliving of my growing up on MAC.....it would be great to have more options, maybe time will tell, good luck gog

oops sorry folks my bad, thought this was relevant posting sight not the intern social network, can we get back to games and making this site/app work, it has such great potential, peace and love, peace and love

Now that's a massive understatement.
Hooray, I beat the core game of Icewind EE.

I swear they changed the final boss for some reason. In the original, they did more flame damage, but they weren't such a bastard when it came to melee attacks.
I could've sworn that they didn't hit with both poison and disease every time they scored a hit on a party member.

Gotta love people messing with shit for a remake that didn't need to be touched. The fight is annoying enough given the factors beyond the boss itself, it didn't need a revamp for more obnoxiousness.

And now it's time for redoing the expansions, since I just figured out how to export my characters.
They don't automatically transfer over like the original.
Not exactly sure how a company does a remake and screws up stuff that was rock solid in the original, but it seems to be the case for this.
Hi everyone, hope all is well in your world.

Ixamyakxim: Okay a couple more questions RE: Firefox.

Sites look "big" when I load them so I CTRL - it once or twice. Is there any way to get Firefox to "remember" so I don't have to do it every time I load it up?

Cookies - I can't find a setting to "ask to allow." I can allow them everywhere for a session, I can block them all and allow certain sites.

What I'm looking for is something like a dialogue box to pop up asking if I want to allow the cookie of a particular site - something like "Allow This Cookie" "Block Once" "Block All" - is this possible?

I couldn't find it under Privacy or "About:Permissions"
Welcome to the only browser that doesn't spy on you and track you around the web. :-)

I'd suggest you run through the Firefox 'GetStarted' page/s, which you should find on the bookmarks toolbar. To show that, right-click at the top of the Firefox page, and check the Bookmarks toolbar option. Also the Menu bar option, I think it's easier to have those options visible where you can find them quickly.

Here's a link to the Get started pages, if you don't have it on your toolbar.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-started-firefox-overview-main-features

Re: site 'size'. Click on Tools > Options on the Firefox menu and a new tab will open (used to be a popup box until the last upgrade). You can changethe default font size there, that might help with everything being too big.

I agree with Tom's suggestions, and I also use, and Cookie Monster as well.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-monster/

I do rely on NoScript but it can be tricky to use when you're not used to it, as Tom said.

To check or change your Firefox privacy / cookie settings, click the Privacy tab on the Options menu, then under History, choose 'Use custom settings for history', which will let you allow or disallow cookies for all sites, as well as 3rd-party cookies etc.
Then click on the 'Exceptions' box that will appear on the right, and enter the sites you wish to add as exceptions.

A quick way to do this at any site is to click on the Tools option on the Firefox menu, then choose 'Page Info'. There are many options there for what you want to allow on every page you visit. Scroll down for the cookie option.

Hope that helps. :-)

Good morning / evening Crow, only now saw your message, I was busy writing about Firefox, and by the time my message posted, I had moved to a different tab.

Congratulations (I think?) on finishing the game. Do you get to keep the mascots?

Hi Endre and gidday gunsynd

Couldn't agree more. It's growing tiresome.

Got to wonder why someone would post in the 'Conversational Free-For-All Thread', complaining that it's supposed to be about games.
Perhaps Crow should rename this the 'intern social network' instead, if the first title is so hard to understand for some? ;-)
WHY DID WITCHER 3 BREAK MY COMPUTER AND WHAT IS WITH ALL OF THIS CONVERSATION???

*and why do I find that amusing over and over? ;)

Hi, folks!
Good morning lovely people!

I'll tell you I'm stressed out right now... too much work this week.
Tomorrow is booked full... expect to be home around midnight.
But not too worried. Today evening is free and Sunday seems at least part-free.
Race driver Grid ahoy!

It's okay. Response delays aren't offensive to me, I know people do other things online besides sitting on a forum waiting for whatever crap I decide to complain about at a moment's notice.

No mascots for this one, just fighting higher-level monsters with no high-end healing spells and getting railroaded since I'm trying to do an evil run and it's pretty apparent that beyond some basic stuff, the writers never pursued making that a rewarding experience.

Have to say, having played through all three games, Icewind 2 is the best of the bunch by a large margin.
It had its annoying spots, and some of the battles were pretty difficult, but I actually had fun with that one from start to finish.

Not going to pay attention to such nonsense. People will either get the hint that this place is for talking rather than official tech support, or they won't, get frustrated and then leave.

Aside from that, how's your morning going so far?

Hi, folks!
Maybe because it seems to scream that wherever the person was used to posting, there was little to no conversation and a whole lot of complaining about broken stuff.

Good point. Nice about Icewind Dale, too! I am rather skilled at putting hundreds of hours into infinity engine and other d&d games, but I'm pretty awful at actually finishing them. :)

Sounds tough, but at least you'll have some time free for gaming. :-)

We are indeed, thanks! I hope you are as well! The little guy is sound asleep at the moment, so I'm squeezing in some mini-bursts of GOG forums, Wool Omnibus Edition and The Witcher 3. :)

edit: I had to jinx things, didn't I? Looks like I'll be taking him outside for a bit. :)

All well here, thank you. Got confused about which game had the dead cats, not having played any of them.
I think I'll go with Baldur's Gate instead, next time a sale comes around. I had been debating which one to start with, but I'm not big on battles..

I guess that the writers wouldn't think that way now, when many games seem to reward the opposite. Gaming has changed...

I sound old! ;-D

G'day to you. Hope things are good in Oz.

When work starts to interfere with gaming, then that could be a problem.. ;-)

It's okay. -laughs-

Baldur's Gate has a lot more story than any of the Icewind games, so it's ultimately that much more rewarding.
Also, you don't get nameless party members, every person you run across in both 1 and 2 have their own personalities, rather than being blank slates of stats and items.

There are serious battles, though. Would be lying if I said otherwise.
But on the bright side, by the time you run across those lovely, lovely dragons that can't wait to tear you to pieces, you'll probably know how to take them out.

A lot of gaming is now geared towards people with no attention span whatsoever. No build up to anything, just shallow instant gratification.

Just trying to finish off all things Icewind-related so I can move on to something else.

In the end, I'm finding that the EE version isn't nearly the level of improvement or vastly changed experience to merit being twice the price retail as the original.
I'll eventually get to Baldur's Gate EE, and if it doesn't bring more to the table, I'll grab the EE version of 2 when it's on heavy discount to complete the set, but then never buy anything else from that company.
