j0ekerr: Dude, are you playing with mods? You have to play with mods. By mods I mean, the one mod, DSFix.
Also I need to add you to my friends list so that we can engage in jolly cooperation...
Which you need a mod for.
I'll explain later.
Hey there! I am indeed playing with DSFix, but it's the only mod I'm using, as far as I remember. And I'll warn you, I don't often engage in multiplayer games, and haven't yet attempted Dark Souls multiplayer, so I'm not sure how it even plays out, but it would be fun to give it a try, so long as you're the patient type that doesn't mind if the person you're playing with sucks at video games. ;)
My name on Steam is the same as here, feel free to add me anytime.

akhliber: It's quite a crappy thing to do, but sadly it seems quite common. Unless you're Square Enix, then you sell your games for $20 on mobile and discount it to $15 when you port it to PC. ;)
I had a hectic but nice weekend, got a lot done around the house, enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch at some local place I can't remember the name of, practiced driving again (and not just in a parking lot this time, so that felt like progress)
I hope yours was lovely as well! I dislike heat more than I can state, yet August is one of my favorite months. We'll be going on a little vacation in a couple weeks, and I'm quite excited.
Time to make coffee. And to drink some store-bought iced-coffee in the mean time, as I'm a bit of a zombie this morning.
*big zombie return hug*
It makes me really appreciate people like the FTL devs, who charge a very reasonable $10 for both the PC and iOS versions. And as a bonus, provided their enhanced edition as a free update. :-) It's too rare to see devs like that. I give the FTL devs my official seal of approval.

Glad to hear you had a nice and interesting weekend. It reminds me that I need to learn how to drive. I'm a total wuss about it :-|

*very carefully hugs the zombie* ,''',',):-\
*hugs everyone.* :)

AgentBirdnest: Sounds aboot right. I agree totally - digital books ought to be cheaper than physical ones. And I think the same should go for movies and games as well. Why should games be $60 both on the shelf and in a digital store? I dunno what the cost of printing discs and boxes is, but it should be subtracted from the digital copy's cost. In a perfect world, of course :-p
Yeah, the same problem applies to games. There are obvious parallelisms, but also obvious differences.
The similarities go in pricing. Both digital and retail versions cost the same, when digital copies have no printing and distribution costs. Which makes no sense.
The differences: When you buy a physical disc, you're still buying something that is nothing more than a repository for a bunch of digital and abstract data that you still need an appropriate separate device to visualize. A book is a book is a book.
Then you need to account for dedicated servers, patch updates and other stuff. With books you don't get a patch update for LOTR in which Gollum survives.
Smaller publishers have abandoned retail altogether and their prices do reflect that . Others however...
Etc, etc.
Bottom line, I feel like a 40~50 price tag for AAA games on Steam would be best.
avatar
AgentBirdnest: The simple fact that it costs nearly 4x as much here as on a tablet is already a bit of a turn off for me :-\ ... I don't understand why there is such a huge price difference. It's the same game on PC and mobile, isn't it? If they are going to sell it for only $4 on tablets, they ought to mark down the price of the PC version.
[/ranting]
Oh, that is specially galling. Specially when the PC version is a usally a buggy port.
But they're going with custom and expectations. No one would pay more than 4$ for a mobile game. The PC crowd however is used to 60$ price tags.
So they try to see how much of their arm they can fit before customers start complaining.

I hated multiplayer, I hated it with the fury of a thousand suns. Multiplayer is the devil, the scourge that will destroy civilization. Multiplayer gave us Halo teabagging, multiplayer gave birth to the grinding abomination that is WOW. Multiplayer ruined Mass Effect 3.
Then I experienced Dark Souls coop multiplayer.
And now I don't hate it anymore.
(Every other multiplayer is bullshit, though)

I still need to play FTL. I know I'll enjoy it when I do. Driving isn't too difficult for me technically, but between my anxiety issues and my problems with spacial awareness, it's become a bit of a beast. I plan to get back into the swing of it well enough to get medical approval to start driving again, if even just to take myself to the doctor on occasion, go get groceries, that sort of thing. I doubt I'll get back to things like interstates during peak traffic times, as I would just be a complete mess. It's all about baby steps, at least for me. Good luck with learning, whenever you give it a go. :)

I see we are pretty much of like mind about multiplayer. To give you an idea of how much I fear it in general, I have yet to "summon" one of the NPC helpers in Dark Souls for any of the tough fights, as I just wasn't sure how to tell for certain I wasn't summoning some random other Steam user, haha. You've got me more interested in trying DS co-op though. We'll have to try it out sometime soon. :)

Good morning! I hope you're doing well yourself. In pretty great spirits myself today, but still a bit slow to respond to stimuli. A few more cups of coffee and I'll be right as rain. ;)

Good morning! *Sips coffee slowly* ahhhhh.
I've made up my mind that I shall be implementing a 12 DLC rule for my future gaming purchases. This may seem trivial, but I don't usually run into needing to contemplate about this, due to the choice of games that I like to play. But then, I discovered that a few of my games that I own/am eyeing, have confirmed plans to not stop DLC production till they are well past their 40th DLC. I don't think it's worth it, and a line has to be drawn somewhere. The exception is, if they release everything in a bundled pack sometime down the road. Like Saint's Row 4 and Civ 5. I bought off both entire packs, which were sold at a nice discount as well.

To the rest: Good morning!

Good morning to both of you!

And hello to anyone else lurking or just coming around. :) I hope you all have a lovely day. I'm off to take the beast for a walk, then to do a bit of work around the house.
Windows and Dell want to install some "important" updates that I think I don't need. How the hell do I get them to stop telling me to do it? :P

Welp.

Group Policy... but only if you have windows 10 pro.
Rumor has it they disabled it in windows 10... home?
& THEN.
Then you have to remove permissions to a file in the windows directory.

It's fun.

I'm typing this from my new computer! It was a real struggle getting things to work but it's pretty glorious now. :P

Not yet, still installing all the basics. Should be done with that pretty soon though. Although I should really have dinner before gaming ... :P

Good evening to you too! How are you doing?

Better make it an extra large dinner, just in case you aren't able to move from your amazingly fast gaming rig for a few days. Maybe we oughta put the fire department on speed-dial in case they need to pry you out of your chair at some point :-p ... anyway, I hope it runs well :-)

I'm doing pretty well today. Side effects from my meds have been very calm, so that's nice :-) Otherwise, it's just a quiet one. Making some cookies, then will dive back into Shadowrun in a little while :-p

How about yourself?
And will you give your computer a name? :-)
