superstande: Hey! :)

Yes, my wife's wallet. But we share... occasionally.
Kind of like running through a minefield blindfolded holding a crowbar up in the air on a heavy thunderstorm - I just might make it...
Just kidding :)
Hey :)
Sounds like very well-thought out idea - good that you're only kidding though :)

ddickinson: Any thoughts on the nice weekend promo?
It's lacking one game in Germany but other than that it seems like a nice promo although some discounts feel rather low

Of course. Dying Light is obviously missing.

Ah, well no big loss then. :-)

Is it a game you were interested in?

To some degree - it's not a real problem then. I just hate being treated that way because GOG's too lazy to implement a way that Germans can buy those they're allowed to when they're over 18....

Is the game available on Steam for German users?

Nope because Steam is equally lazy. It was available here during launch but was blocked afterwards. I think we're now at over 20 games blocked in Germany (on GOG)...

Correction: We're at 39 games blocked.

Is it easy for them to allow it, given they are not a German store? Are there other international stores that allow such verifications on blocked items?

Afaik it's not that easy because both Steam and GOG have a German storefront which would require an age verification in the fist place due to the mandatory age ratings (Origin and Uplay get around that by only offering 18-rated items from 11 PM to 6 AM in Germany) but many other stores (official Steam Keystores) don't care because Germany cannot actually enforce that - only thing that can happen is de-listing from Google which is probably the reason they block it.

So if GOG was to offer age verification for German users, they would then be allowed to sell the games? But I guess it would need to be a real method of verification. Or maybe they could just sell the games at the times that Origin and Uplay do. It is not perfect, but at least a compromise. Or of course the politicians could stop being the only nation in the democratic world to do this kind of stuff and allow their people the choice. It is not like there is not other violence games and things that are allowed. In fact it is strange what is listed as not allowed and what is allowed.
Good afternoon all,

Decided to work away my bleak mood into remodeling a horrible string sextet I wrote earlier, it turned out quite well, I might upload it soon.

5 weekdays, 5 D&D sessions. I'm having a blast but I'll be grateful once that quiets down a bit again. DMing so intensively is not easy on the cogs in your head.

I also started reading in Ghormenghast, the book so far seems like a good read. My dad said to me that it was a good bet if I wanted to try a nightmarish game of thrones-alike on steroids and acid in a massive gothic castle. Seems to be the case so far, so that's groovy. And I like it far better than game of thrones, which I never got into...

How are you all these days?
