omega64: Right, I wanna get it but I'm waiting for a discount. Just couldn't justify the purchase to myself. :l
I loved 999 but didn't like VLR as much due to the use of 3d models for characters and blood and gore no longer being present.
Is there more gore in the new one? (The cutscene stuff seems awful)
There's definitely more gore in this one. There's a reason this one is 18+. Some of the character models do look awkward in the cut scenes. But the fact that the overall design of the game is a little more down to earth than VLR is helping in that regard.

ddickinson: IThe puzzles were not that hard either, but that seems to be a trait of modern adventure games (modern gamers are dumb, I guess? :-)).
I am one of those. :D
Though I'm stilll too stupid to solve puzzles like in Fran Bow so yeah...
They don't need to dumb it down, I'll just use a walkthrough. :P
Or they could actually implement a hint system ingame...

That reminds me I also bought and completed The Room Two this weekend.
Lovely game just like the first. Hope the third comes to pc sometime this/next year.
The Room is basically you solving elaborate puzzle boxes.

Great, it just felt weird in VLR to see a scene with all these people lying there dead and not a drop of blood. xD
Like I was playing a censored version.

I'll definitely get it though considering VLR was a major reason why I bought a Vita.

ddickinson: I don't think I have heard of that game. Was it a nice game?
It's a visual novel/puzzle game and the third (and last) part in the Zero Escape series. I like it a lot, but I also loved the first two. I still need to get that last ending, but the flow chart tells me I'm almost there. I should be able to wrap it up tonight.

It's about a group of people locked up in an underground facility by a person calling themselves Zero. They have to escape from there and, more importantly, survive. They can only get out by collecting 6 passwords, but the only way to get a password is when someone dies. I can't say anymore about the story without entering spoilery territory. It also has some sci-fi elements.

Since you use walkthroughs anyway, why not give me my challenging puzzles and you can just cheat. :-)
A hint system is a good idea, as long as that lets them do hard puzzles again.

Pretty much, if you want hard puzzles play Silent Hill 3.
It has separate combat/puzzle difficulty settings. The hard puzzle setting has some HARD puzzles.

Example: to solve one you need quite a bit of knowledge of Shakespeare's work.

I really wouldn't mind harder puzzles though if they were designed well. ;)

I am glad that you enjoy the games. I am not the biggest fan of visual novels for some reason, which is strange given how much I like to read. But I know they are very popular, even our lovely Mr Crow plays them and occasionally enjoys them a little. :-)

That series isn't just VN though, it also has escape the room sequences with puzzles.
The third game seems to have adopted cutscenes instead of the traditional text format for conversations in VN's.

Oh oops, missed Yezemin's explanation. :P

I like the older Silent Hill games, the first two are great, much better than when they started to make them feel more American. The same with the Resident Evil games, the older ones are much better than the generic shooter type games they are now.

I really like tank controls.
Sure they're a bit clunky but they're great when the camera angles and monster placements, sound is done well.
Kinda sad games have ditched those.

Resident Evil 4 seems to be perfectly in the middle between action and survival horror.
Pretty good game.
Too bad 5 and 6 went more in the action direction.

I liked the old alone in the dark games too, they were the first games that got me into tank controls.

I think they are remaking all the old games, or at least remastering them. There is also a new spinoff game that is said to be terrible, and the upcoming Resident Evil is apparently more of a Silent Hill PT type game.

I still have not played them again yet. I seem to recall playing them years ago when I was little, but I have not played them since.

Just popping in to send some love to Fred the Thread. I hope you all have a lovely day!

The lady is home from work today. We lost a family friend yesterday that she was very close to for as long as she remembers, and it's been really hard on her. We spent most of yesterday watching really bad tv and playing board games. We're about to go enjoy some time out back with Sarge and some coffee.

I will likely be back around to chat a bit later in the day. For now, I wish you all a lovely Monday!
*big hugs all around*

Yeah, the new one is terrible. It's third person but half the screen is filled by your characters head. One of many problems.
Just look at this screenshot and see the interface.
That thing in the middle is a minimap, it's at a WEIRD angle.

The second screenshot shows how close the camera normally is. :P

They're remaking the second game.
Still need to play the remake of the first game though, waiting until it either works well in Dolphin or the game gets a higher discount.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your family friend. It is nice that you have each other for support, and that you have been trying to pass the time with some fun games and bad tv.

*big comforting hug*

But don't all the cool kids like those crappy angles and things now? :-)

My condolences.
Good luck.

I think that game hits and passes the limit by a wide margin. ;)

No clue really about RE7 considering they said the demo isn't representative of the actual game.
