Can't complain too much here. Doing the usual Skype thing, looking at sale stuff. That's about it here.

Good thanks, Snugglette.
I keep thinking of my huge backlog and that I've wasted all that money since I can't resell them and I probably won't play them. I had the thought that I can only buy games during the Steam Summer and Winter sales, and in the inbetweens I can play the backlog...but I don't think I'd really stick to that. :/

Any advice on knocking out some of the backlog (when a lot of them are those 100+ hours type of involved games I don't even want to start)?

-laughs- It's hard to get on top of the impulse control thing and stay with it.

For me, I'm picking 10 or so at a time, then bouncing around between those. It's a more contained form of the usual chaos of trying to pick out items from a huge library.

Start with the short ones.

Very sound advice, I like it. They don't give me dread as much as those "really good" rpgs. 0.0 Thanks Zeo and Crow! <3

Oh, also:
Play whatever you're most excited about. Don't just play something because you feel "obligated" to since you bought it. Not to take a dig at Crow, but I find the whole idea of that simply ridiculous. I'd rather have just "wasted" the money than force myself to play something I'm not enjoying. If nothing else, consider it a donation to the developer (they've gotta eat, too) or to the store you bought it from.

Great minds think alike Zeo. Not for games, but I usually get a lot of flak for not liking Doctor Who even though I love England, and I always say you can't force yourself to like something. So it's a good thought process to have for game backlog too, but I feel bad since I bought them and can't resell them or something. I wish they could figure out a way to do that for online games. Sometimes I think if I give the game a good try, a few hours, and still don't like it, then just let it go. But then there are others that everyone else in the universe says is awesome and I just can't get into them, so I don't feel right giving up on them yet.

Sorry for the word vomit, late at night no filter. *hugs Zeo*

Doctor Who? Doctor Who's pretty overrated as it is. I mean, don't get me wrong, there's some good writing there, but the plot always ends up convoluted beyond belief. And the classic shows were on a serious budget to the point that they'd use bubble wrap as a monster.

I wasn't born in time to see this, but if I recall correctly, CD manufacturers didn't want people to do this either and had their own forms of DRM sometimes. An example that comes to mind is the "Dial-A-Pirate" wheel from The Secret of Monkey Island.

I believe some websites (BigFishGames is the only one that comes to mind at the moment) will give you a one-hour free trial of the game before you buy it.

For me, I'll occasionally play games outside of my genre if they have some sort of video game history significance (for example, Hitman), but I'll still avoid stuff that crosses the line too far (for example, Doom). I say when you look for the "best games", stick with your own genre first. Judge the game by your own standards, and depending on whether it's as good as they say, you can use this to seek out other games that might interest you (for example, somebody who hates Myst but loves Sam & Max Hit the Road might hate Riven but love The Secret of Monkey Island). Once you've properly determined where your tastes lie, only THEN risk spending the big money on the "popular" games.

No worries, I never had one of those anyway.

I'm $10 over what I wanted my budget to be for the Steam Summer Sale, but I can't narrow it down anymore. Like I've tried, all day, and I can't justify taking another one off because I want them all pretty equally. $10 over isn't too bad, right? :P

How is your day going Zeo? :)

At least you lived up to your tagline, I guess.
