Be careful! I've never done it, but I'm from the Northeast. You know this involves swinging a massive chainsaw in awkward directions through something that shoots out shards and is prone to kickback yes? ;) Usually while standing and reaching in weird ways.

So it's more about your skill / confidence with a chainsaw - but yes, be careful if you do it!

Swinging a chainsaw around sounds like fun. :-)

But to be honest I was not going to start on huge blocks of ice if I did it, maybe only a feed or so tall perhaps to start with? So I was thinking smaller tools would do. I know I would never be ready for the chainsaw professional stuff anytime soon, if ever.

I will also have a little read into it before I do anything silly. But thank you for letting me know, the last thing I want it to cut off my leg. :-)

I remember the first time I watched it, because I had NO CLUE that's what they did. I don't know what I expected but as soon as I saw all the chainsaws and the people going nuts on massive blocks my eyes must have bugged out and all I could think was "Waaaaaaaaat?!?!"

I have seen it done a few times, but never thought about trying it. I probably still won't but I was bored earlier and I suddenly got the urge to try a small scale attempt. I will probably forget all about it next week. :-)

But some of the sculptures are lovely, have you ever seen the ones in the ice hotels in Scandinavia?
