But not in Northern Germany. Although you're not wrong in terms of Hamburg which was an unusual strong catholic population for Northern Germany - but then my family is not from Hamburg :)

(the purple areas are predominantly protestant and while the blue areas are predominantly atheist they're otherwise nearly completely protestant. The yellow areas are predominantly catholic) :)
