CarrionCrow: I'll keep this. No need to seek out more excitement, I've had my fill.

Different people, different places, different times, all going at once. Several billion worlds, all rolled into one.

I'm pretty much done with it for now. Too slow, too much I already have. But, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Fallen Enchantress. ;)
;)
Thanks.
Ah, yeah...
Hope you find an interesting game to play from the library!

Hey, we should do a kickstarter for you to get a brand new pc so you'd have no limits techwise :)
Not sure how it works when there's nothing to give back :D
Might do one for myself too :P
Or we could ask the more creative people (than me) like Owl and Agent to draw badges and stuff as rewards :)

Good moaning.

I''ve been irking all morning from a comment I read in another board that managed to annoy me greatly. The funny thing, it's actually a trivial, unimportant thing. Yet I've spent the last hour thinking about it., like a scab that you can't stop picking at.

So I'm going to use this thread to vent about it because, really, that's what I mostly use this thread for.

So where to start, I think that what managed to get that comment under my skin was that it tried to defend what I consider indefensible. In this case the 'unique' american date format.

Yes it's that silly.

I wasn't sure why, but that comment infllamed my vitriol reserves (which are quite large). And yet all it did was say that the american date format of MDY simply followed the order in which it's written in english. However at the time I felt as disgusted as if I had witnessed a crime against humanity. Also that explanation loses a lot of strength, when you realize that the inventors of the english language use a DMY format, but I diggress.

So I kept thinking about it over and over, and I realized that it's not the date format what bugged me. It's the whole american attitude towards standarization. Wether it's the metric system, paper sizes, or pretty much everything else. There's a refusal to accept any standards but its own, which exudes this aura of "America Fuck Yeah!" Something that says; "We're America we don't have to do what anyone else says, even if they're simply recommendations to promote understanding. We make the goddamn rules, we do what we want, and screw everyone else".

And while I realize that that's a caricatural representation of only a part of the US and not the whole. I can't help but think that said part does exist and it's not trivial at all.

Which is the impression I got and what churned my insides into vitriol.

And now that I've realized it, written it, and... well; ranted about it, I can finally move on.

Or try to at least.

If it makes you feel any better, it's just a bunch of people who are doing this: wanting to standardize things, making laws/edicts/whatnots about them, proliferating them - then others follow... It's not "America" or even "United States" doing it, as in people living there necessarily care much about that... It's just labeled so, perhaps, sometimes... A group of people who are all dead now starting something and trying to represent a hugely larger group of people...

What I'm pissed off about is Sorcerer King. What I'm in love with now is Sorcerer King :)
Keep getting butchered... And when you lose too many leveled up army units - it's kinda hard to win the game, it's kinda brutal. But I'll win it, darnit! - If I managed to beat GalCiv2, the game made by the same team... I should win this too, right...? :)

not really but I have another thing to hate now.
The coffee vending machine just shortchanged me 50 cents.
MY HATE IS ALL-CONSUMING!

Havent' bought it yet, and I probably won't for a while. I'm in a hunting mood, and the patient hunter scores the best kills.

good midday everyone...

I was playing something that most people wouldn't consider to be music in the background (loudly) to stay awake but since the housemates are complaining I'd better get some more bialetti ...

Funny how all the people in the house are getting Pender3ckt while the cat is dozing of in a chair not a meter away from the speakers :)

2 more exams, and then ... quiet ...
Could youz all do me a fave? Smack our lovely Sup with +1s for being a lovely and soupy ninja :-)

Vnlr: good midday everyone...
Good afternoon, careless one :-)
I've always been a fan of headphones, so I've never really had that problem :-p
Good luck with the exams, then hopefully plenty of relaxation...

That'll be +6 for superstande...

The problem is that our household appears to be always a headphones short of nominal stock. Same thing with socks and men's underwear and handkerchiefs and cookies...

I hope the remaining exams will go as well as the prior ones. I'm mostly worried about a practical exam on monday (brr). It'll probably involve nothing more than putting stuff in a jar and slowly dripping measured fluids into it until something noticable happens (titrations) but I'm a stressy person by nature so I've got a neat set of disaster scenarios all worked out in my head :p

I'm pretty sure that every household in the world has a shortage of cookies ;-) As for my household - the shortage is always with Phillips-head screwdrivers...

So... if you add a drop of the orange stuff instead of the red stuff, it will cause an explosion, which lands on the student next to you, who will become mutated, so he sues the government, which makes Belgium go bankrupt and gets bought by Walmart? Which eventually leads to WW3, and... Boom, all because of an exam mistake ;-p
That, or, a 1% difference in score ;-) I'm sure you'll do great though. You're a smart guy.
Good morning denizens of the thread named Fred.
Just about to jump in the shower and get ready for work.
Hope everyone is having a great day so far.
*hugs, waves, cold drink*

Just don't set fire to the entire roll of Magnesium like we did. One very pissed teacher. :-)

Haha, or I add a drop of the wrong fluid and I create a poisonous gas cloud that self-replicates through interaction with the athmosphere, leading earth to develop a venus-like climate over the course of a few terrifying final months :D

Biggest problem is that you are measuring quantities along the likes of 0.000016 grammes, and being of by (more than) 0.000002 grammes gets you another nice zero (as a grade).

So that. And I feel flattered :)

on the Besides, I find this to be an oddly hilarious rant-article

*Wants to hug you back, but finds you already in the shower. So; dons Sunglasses and hugs you while under the shower, in full ornate uniform, gassmask and hat*

I'm doing fine. It's slowly nearing that tipping point that you just want to get the final exams over with though...

At one point (during the exam of organic chemistry a few weeks ago), someone dropped a few test tubes with fluid and cleaned em up nicely while the teacher took care of the spilled stuff. But he didn't rinse the broken glasswork before disposing of it in the wrong thrash can (the one with used gloves and cleanex). Whatever got mixed in there got on like a thrascan on fire. Chemistry was in the air :D

Its Caturday!
Good moaning.

Freaking birds, dropping their feathers from the rafters of the library.
Yes, I know it could be worse.
Let's see what today brings us.
And there's Grim Fandango, right on cue after mentioning it just yesterday to the evil eyed avian.
Oh my, is that undertale I see on GOG?
Nothing interesting to me in the bundles though.
Weeell, maybe the freespace games; but that's about it.
