Well, I've always found it fun :-p Picking everything out, putting it together, and (hopefully) getting a good result is always satisfying for me, and I enjoy every step of it (unless it catches on fire.)
It's kinda like baking, but with electronics :-)

Aside from switching single components i've never done that before - i guess in that matter it's an adventure and hopefully it's fun :D

Would agree about the promo. Riddick kinda stands out among the bunch, in my opinion. Not that the others aren't lovely, but... well... Riddick is comparatively new and shiny :-)
I must give a shout out to Blood though, which is the only pre-Half-Life FPS that I really like.

I was in the same boat until about a year or 2/3 ago.
I would definitely recommend you play Doom and Shadow Warrior.
Didn't really like Duke3D for some reason.

Actually got someone in my class to play through Doom for the first time.
Finished quite a bit during our breaks.

You have any tips for Blood?
I've tried getting into it, was pretty hard though.
Part of the problem was the awful framerate.
Might need to adjust some stuff.

I didn't like Duke3D either. I liked Rise of the Triad as a kid, but don't enjoy it at all these days. Wolfenstein 3D is just plain awful :-p

I guess Unreal came out just a few months before Half-Life, and I enjoyed that.
