johnnygoging: so after seeing what's going on with Doom, I'm kinda let down.

this makes me worry about Elder Scrolls 6.

I dunno if the crap came out of Richardson or Rockville. in the former, then there's hope for Elder Scrolls VI. if it's the latter, or any structure associated with the larger ZeniMax, then this bodes really fucking ill for Elder Scrolls VI.

just like Diablo III, WoW, Thief, Dungeon Keeper, anything.

all the best old games are pretty much fucking dead.

DSIII is pretty much an exception and it's probably going to stay that way.

really worried for Elder Scrolls VI.
In my opinion, Doom series was never that good. Throughout the video games history, the only valuable doom game may be the first one, and we should note that it was released after the wolfenstein 3D. The same rule applies for diablo too (again, that's just my opinion). WoW may be the most valued mmorpg ever, but it's just an mmorpg... Of course it would get worse by time, due to blizzard's greed about money (and that's normal, those companies are doing this job for money). I can not comment on Thief, but the dungeon keeper's story describes the situation very well...

The source of the problem is just using the series' names to make more money. That's the story with Dungeon Keeper. Also, what is the connection between Doom 3 and elder doom games for example? And the new doom's? It's just the name, they use it to promote their sales. Diablo 3 was designed to make the most profit, not to be the best game they could make. So, the main thing is, these companies just makes too much games for a series. And I ask you this, what is the point of making elder scrolls 6? Do elder scrolls games even got a connection between them? Everyone can play morrowing, oblivion or skyrim in any order, they are just games made under the same title. Correct me if I am wrong...

Well, they may be able to make a good game named elder scrolls, or they may not be. This only depends on the elder scroll VI itself, since there is no connection between those games. It is like being afraid about the next final fantasy game. They are just separate games gathered under same title, so to my mind it makes no sense to be afraid about these types of game series.
Well, being afraid about the upcoming deus ex game makes sense to me (because it's continuing the story) but I will never be afraid of seeing a bad game in the kind of series I have described before.
Quick pop in with a tech question!

I accidentally borked my .cfg files last night - so fucking annoying that it's so easy to do in Win 7 (forget to uncheck the box that sets notepad as the default program to open). Afer a near freak out and huge pain in the ass, I finally tweaked the registry and think I got it back to par.

As a side bummer, the game that I was adjusting now loads slower with the same .cfg settings as before so I hope I didn't globally muck up something (I think I wiped a few too many registry keys - whoops) but for the time being I'll just hope the first time I set those settings up "video game voodoo" and some random order made it so that the game loads fine whereas now it's having the usual glitches that happen when running something in a nonstandard manner.

But anyway - my question. Can anyone check the properties of a cfg file on their computer (Win 7) and see if it "Opens with: Windows Shell Common"

DO NOT CHANGE THE OPEN WITH, OR DOUBLE CLICK THE FILE AND FORGET TO UNCHECK THE BOX THAT CHANGES THE DEFAULT OPEN WITH PROGRAM!

I never would have thought forgetting to do something so trivial would be such a huge pain in the ass! ;)

That's a yes.
Hey there, everyone. Hope you're all doing at least okay today.
*big hugs and waves*

Hey there, folks! Just dropping in to say hello. The lady left for a business trip, the pup's asleep on the couch behind me after some hard play, and I'm just enjoying a beer and some music. The lawn guys will be here in a bit, so I'm about to wake him and take him out back for a little while.

Like superstande, I've been putting in a good bit of play time with BGEE, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I finally have my "canon party" with basically the folks you start Baldur's Gate 2 with, and now I'm just wrapping up some side quests and such. I've also been enjoying Ronin and Hand of Fate, both of which are incredibly fun, especially as something to play in small doses with a gamepad. Stories: etc has been good fun as well. I'm apparently too lazy to type whole game titles. May as well accept defeat and nap with this pup a bit. I can worry about the rest of the day a little later. ;)
I hope you're all doing well, or at least getting by alright!

Been a good, and productive, boy today so I'm pretty well exhausted but otherwise I'd say good to very good. :-)
How's your day treating you?

Good afternoon. =)

Glad to hear you've been having a good day. You keep reminding me that I need to start an EE run for Baldur's Gate soon...

That's good. Doing stuff always makes the sitting down and relaxing part that much better.

It was busy this morning, but after everything died down it got quiet again. Pretty normal weekend day here, nothing exciting happening. Going to finally pick a game to focus on, that'll be nice. Getting annoyed bouncing around but not deciding what to wipe out next. (Saying that while wanting to get started with Pillars but not being quite ready to sink so much time into a single game...)

Have you played Starward Rouge yet? Looks like a fun one.

I played a little bit of it, but it wasn't really keeping my attention.
Good evening everyone *big hugs and waves* :)

Hope that you're all having a great Sunday (or had) :)

Well, aside from tons of rain (and I had to go outside) it was ok ;-)
How about your Sunday?

Hey *big return hug*
Guess you got our weather because it was really great here today (some small rain aside) ;)
which was good because it was my mother's birthday so we had a nice family day with my sister visiting from Kiel :)

I hope you'll get better weather soon - it sounded like it might return here in the next days ;)
