johnnygoging: so after seeing what's going on with Doom, I'm kinda let down.
this makes me worry about Elder Scrolls 6.
I dunno if the crap came out of Richardson or Rockville. in the former, then there's hope for Elder Scrolls VI. if it's the latter, or any structure associated with the larger ZeniMax, then this bodes really fucking ill for Elder Scrolls VI.
just like Diablo III, WoW, Thief, Dungeon Keeper, anything.
all the best old games are pretty much fucking dead.
DSIII is pretty much an exception and it's probably going to stay that way.
really worried for Elder Scrolls VI.
In my opinion, Doom series was never that good. Throughout the video games history, the only valuable doom game may be the first one, and we should note that it was released after the wolfenstein 3D. The same rule applies for diablo too (again, that's just my opinion). WoW may be the most valued mmorpg ever, but it's just an mmorpg... Of course it would get worse by time, due to blizzard's greed about money (and that's normal, those companies are doing this job for money). I can not comment on Thief, but the dungeon keeper's story describes the situation very well...
The source of the problem is just using the series' names to make more money. That's the story with Dungeon Keeper. Also, what is the connection between Doom 3 and elder doom games for example? And the new doom's? It's just the name, they use it to promote their sales. Diablo 3 was designed to make the most profit, not to be the best game they could make. So, the main thing is, these companies just makes too much games for a series. And I ask you this, what is the point of making elder scrolls 6? Do elder scrolls games even got a connection between them? Everyone can play morrowing, oblivion or skyrim in any order, they are just games made under the same title. Correct me if I am wrong...
Well, they may be able to make a good game named elder scrolls, or they may not be. This only depends on the elder scroll VI itself, since there is no connection between those games. It is like being afraid about the next final fantasy game. They are just separate games gathered under same title, so to my mind it makes no sense to be afraid about these types of game series.
Well, being afraid about the upcoming deus ex game makes sense to me (because it's continuing the story) but I will never be afraid of seeing a bad game in the kind of series I have described before.
