ddickinson: I think it was supposed to have ended on the third game, but I guess they got greedy and decided to milk the franchise some more. Looking at the price I think that is what this is, they seem to think due to the previous games people will throw that kind of money on a sequel adventure game that is likely to cause a lot of annoyance from fans due to it being a time travel themed game. Which I would guess means they reused many assets and locations from previous games, which then begs the question again about the price if that is the case.
Maybe we are just spoiled by 80%+ off discounts almost constantly :-) ... It is much harder to justify paying $30 for games, when you know it will like be half that price (or even cheaper) in 6 months.
I dunno. I'm tired, and talking out my butt :-)
back from a nap!
ah, was just thinking earlier today about trying a point'n'click next, and "maybe deponia" and zang! :P
but seriously - has anyone played the first one - and any opinions - not too frustrating/boring? - that's the only one I have...

I am sure that is some of the issue, we are so use to sales and things that many people don't pay full price anymore. But you also have to look at other adventure games that are cheaper and full price and possibly offer more. In that respect the $30 price can indeed be seen as a high price for what is possibly just a cash grab sequel.

Welcome back!

I am not fully sure if I have played the first one or not to be honest, so I guess I can't really be of any help. But hopefully a few of the others will have played it.

Good afternoon (I think).
Haven't tried any of the Deponia games. I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts too.

Pretty much, I'd rather buy wadget eye games for that price. :P

Standard trick with used cars is to ask far more than they're worth so you can give the buyer a steep discount and still get what you want. The buyer thinks they're getting a great deal and everyone is happy. ;)
Was Deponia Doomsday a day one release? Or was it another case of the developers getting the initial sales on Steam before letting us have it? Also, it seems you get GOMO for free if you buy the game, at least that is what it says above the purchase button on the store page.

I know, Telltale is a master at doing that, just look at all their games that are still highly priced despite being older games. It is so they can have the big discounts during sales. But with games by charging a high price you lose those initial sales, and almost encourage people to wait for a big discount, would that not effect the overall takings of a game?

Not a day one release. It was given away for free with a 10 euro's magazine in Germany.

Yeah... Most new adventure games released here are $15 or $20. Looking at Telltale, I see that Game of Thrones is $30. And I guess Blackwell is $30, because I look at all the parts as one big game, with one continuous story.
That said, I haven't actually played any Deponia games, so I don't know about the quality.
Still... it seems expensive :-p

Release says March 1st so we had to wait a bit.

But I do prefer the art style more on the Deponia games. Wadget Eye games are not really on par in my opinion and lose a lot of points with me due to that. This is 2016, games should not have a lower resolution than MS DOS. I am not saying graphics are everything, but to have them that low in a professional product in the modern age is a little unacceptable for a commercial product.

Agreed, I like their art style. The resolution is just annoying though.

ô__ô Never thought about that. Smart...

So another publisher treating us second class. Which is a shame, especially as this developer/publisher has many games here already.

Price is always going to be subjective, some think it is high, others don't. Take your comment about Blackwell, I am sure you would say it was worth the full price, whereas many would not dream of buying a game like that for full price or without a heavy discount.
Deponia 4? ... Daedalic... enough said ;-)
