ddickinson: What song do you have stuck in your head? Try listening to more music, that can sometimes help get the song out of your head. Or a big blow to the head with a blunt instrument. :-)
Nonono!! The secret is to listen to the song that is stuck. Hearing it will help it get un-stuck. Like scratching an itch :-)
... but I'll keep my mouth shut, because I wanna see what happens with this blunt instrument ;-x

ddickinson: Good evening! *gladly takes the regular hug*

Maybe ask ELT or someone else to try it as well, just in case it is only me. But I tried it while "signed out" and it worked. See the attached image.

Other than GOG being mean to you how are you feeling, I hope you are feeling a little better?

*big super hug*
I just tried it myself, and it works. Even on my own avatar.

I'm feeling better, thanks. Making cookies always makes me feel better... :-|
Sorry about the negative part of your mixed day *big comforting but currently happy hug*

ddickinson: Good evening! *return hug*

I am glad to hear you are doing good. What song do you have stuck in your head? Try listening to more music, that can sometimes help get the song out of your head. Or a big blow to the head with a blunt instrument. :-)

My day was a bit mixed, mostly in a bad way. But I had a really wonderful evening, so I guess I will be going with me feeling great at the moment.
Thank you. Well i was watching One Two Three earlier and now the Sabre Dance from Aram Khachaturian is stuck in my head ;)
I'm currently listening to some jazz (well technically it's swing) - maybe that'll help :)

Glad to hear that you're feeling great - but sorry to hear that you only had a mixed day :)

You took the screenshot on a Mac, right? The font rendering looks great :D

Does that work? Won't that just make you have the song stuck in your head even more?
*goes to find a blunt trumpet (because that is an instrument)* :-)

But that would still not explain why your chat is not working. So clearly there is an issue with your account at the moment. Can Crow use chat, or is his also broken?

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better, that has put an even bigger smile on my face. And cookies sound nice as well.

Thank you. It is nothing, just the usual stuff that I seem to be putting up with these days. At least my lovely evenings make up for all that.

*lots of big hugs with extra hugs until your account is fixed*

Maybe try some music with lyrics? I won't risk listening to the song, just in case it sticks in my head as well. :-)

Thank you. It's okay, I have been having some extra rough few days lately to go on top of my usual rough days.

It is on my Mac, I wanted to test it there for Agent as I knew it worked on tablet but I wanted to be sure. I do like how OS X and iOS renders the fonts. Do newer Windows OSs render the fonts better? How is Linux for font rendering?

*big hello hugs and waves*

I haven't kept up with the thread at all today, and I'm about to head out with the lady for a drink once she gets home from work, so I'll have a lot of catching up to do tonight. :)
I just wanted to say hello to you fine folks. I hope you're all having a lovely day! I'm enjoying some coffee and an album I haven't listened to in years and years. I'm quite excited about going out for a drink, so long as she's still up for it when she gets home. My belly is being quite nice this afternoon. May as well test it. ;)
Wow, 2019 pages so far! This is why I love gog so much!

Thank you! It's been quite a lovely day thus far. Looking forward to a nice night, maybe a yummy appetizer or something, depending on where we go. Have a wonderful night! :)

Yep already doing that. Currently listening to "Bei mir bistu sheyn" from the 1938 Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert from Benny Goodman which has lyrics :)

You're welcome. I hope those rough days will become less asap :)

Yep. It looks pretty good. Definitely better than on Windows at least imo. Even my modified Debian font rendering looks better than my Windows one. Although Windows got better with last versions...I'm not sure if Linux can achieve Mac-like rendering but it's possible to get pretty impressive font rendering in some distros :)

Thank you, I hope you will have a wonderful night as well, hopefully your stomach won't spoil things for you. And try not to get too drunk. :-)

Thank you. Things are not all bad, I have had some incredible happy news recently, which I might share with the thread sometime. So things are not all bad, and hopefully things are getting better.

Is font rendering hard to do? Sorry if it is a silly question, but is it difficult to render fonts smoothy, I think Mac has had smooth fonts for many years now? I guess I never really thought about it that much.

That is the best thing about this place, the quality and volume is what keeps bringing us back!

Uh that sounds really good :)

Honestly i don't know much about it. I first read a bit about it when i had to improve the font rendering on Debian because it doesn't look to great out-of-the-box and i got back to it recently after i had to reinstall Windows on my computer and i noticed that the fonts didn't look that good - especially on Firefox (but also on Chrome) ....

There are definitely many good people on here discussing a wide range of things.

I guess it is how the graphics engine of each OS renders the fonts, perhaps? I have no idea, what little I do know about the inner workings of computers does not far enough to cover fonts.

On another topic: have you had a good day, full of some lovely and exciting things?

That's what I've read. Your mind is trying to remember the song, or something. So when you finally listen to it, your mind is like "aaaaaaahhh, that's right u__u ..." and it is satisfied :-) It works for me more than anything else.

Possibly...and honestly never really thought about that topic it started to matter....i need moar time to read and learn about that 24 hours a day are not enough :P

Well it was mostly a quiet day. Did some cleaning (which also involved the preparation to sell some old dvds) and i bought a new bike lock but that's about it - was a pretty good day all things considered i guess....

Or it will finally know the whole song and keep singing it to you over and over again while laughing like an evil maniac. :-)

Cleaning and a new bike lock? You really know how to live dangerously. :-)

But a quiet day is not so bad, hopefully you still enjoyed it and the rest from your classes.
