Engineering a productive future.

Rise of Industry is coming soon to Games in Development, DRM-free on GOG.com.
There is no force in the universe more interested in pushing the world forward than the industrialist. In this upcoming tycoon game you become that force. Raising factories, setting up trade routes, researching new technologies or arranging transport for your raw materials is how you will expand your early 20th-century empire in this unpredictable, procedurally-generated world.

Vythonaut: ... What trees? :D

Trilarion: The pointy green things. Don't you see them in the first screenshots?
Oh, those trees; i thought they were spinach-flavored stalagmites! XD

Yes, these one. I admire the art of abstraction.

Almost correct! I'm Italian, so they're basil-flavoured. Sorry if I let you down with this :D

And i'm here for the flavors! :) Joking aside, the graphics are really nice (i also like the animated water and how the smoke is depicted among others) and regarding the UI, the more i see it the more i like it; very clean design and suits the artwork. The same applies to the soundtrack that is heard in the videos. What i would like to see is the world being inhabitated; it looks like a ghost town as it is right now.

The music has been completely redone for the release. New sounds, new interface, etc. It's far better now, believe me (not that the previous wasn't good). As for the towns, they'll have more NPCs running around. Note that towns have their own trade routes, so you'll see trucks going between towns that don't belong to you (example: a rural town selling food to its neighbors)

Considering the nice changes you've made between the various alpha versions that are seen in the videos, i see no reason not to believe you. As for the trade routes, since they are the A and the Ω in a game like this, it's nice to see they're implemented as expected. It shows that this game has been crafted with attention to detail: the farms for example, it's nice to be able to visibly distinguish what they produce and nice to actually see animated livestock etc. Hope there will be more animated buildings like this, as they make the world (together with NPCs) much more alive. Cheers and my best wishes for no development difficulties during the InDev period. :)

Trilarion: I still have to finish SimCity 4, so maybe later. Who knows how many DLCs this game will have.

Somehow I like the look of those trees.
How do you ever finish SimCity 4. There is always something more to do, especially with the modding community.

"No difficulties" :D

Sir, I love waking up with a billion compilation errors! I need this kind of stress in my life :D

There are mathematical ways to finish it, apparently

DampSquib: Maybe, if this is unique enough to other similar games, worth watching anyway.
avatar
DapperPenguins: We don't want to be one in many. Too many games of the same genre, so we try to add a lot of new and unseen features, all in a fun and engaging package. Take a look at all we have in mind, I bet you won't find anything like it: https://trello.com/b/t94R4mdV/public-roadmap

Thanks, will pick the game up on release, watched a few more YT videos.
They helped cement the decision.

BoBFiSh: Looks like it could be interesting and seems to involve more than just the transport networks that Open Transport Tycoon offers.

Could be a fun management game.

Wishlisted for now.
avatar
Ghorpm: Nothing is better than Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe!
True, it still needs a lot of work to beat OTTD. I am also getitng tired of these low poly looking games. Stop being lazy developers and make some detailed models. Even the graphics in OTTD looks better.
My opinion; more than conifers for trees. I get the low poly aesthetic going on, but the tree all being pointy conifers looks weird...

A successor of the Industry Giant games would be great, even better when it comes with Linux support. But unfortunately I do not like the graphics. For me all the screenshots look uninspired and bland, even for a strategy game, and totally miss the charm of the old simulation games. Maybe I still will buy it at some point when the game mechanics are really good (and some modders have added nice graphics to it :P).

When we implement biomes, we'll have ddifferent trees for each one. Palms for deserts, oaks for grasslands, various for the jungle...

Sorry you feel like that. We kept a simple artstyle so that it can run on the simplest of laptop. Also, if you zoom in, you can see very detailed models. Take a look at these images:
