A classic tactical RPG returns! The second game in the main Front Mission storyline is finally available outside of Japan for the first time – FRONT MISSION 2: Remake blends intense strategy with a deep and involved storyline.

12 years have passed since the second Huffman conflict. The impoverished People's Republic of Alordesh has been suffering a severe economic decline ever since the war ended. In June 2102, soldiers of the Alordesh Army rise up and, led by Ven Mackarge, declare independence from the O.C.U. (Oceania Cooperative Union).

Wishlist it now!
Yay! Front Mission 2!

-also-

Sigh: another remake...
Cool.
I'm eager to see it!

-Soulash 2

-Fortunes Run

-Empyrion: Galactic Survival

-Cosmoteer(maybe?)

-Zed Zone

Bloated, overpriced remakes are not really a great addition.

Which have absolutely nothing to do with this developer/publisher. Just randomly posting a list of games you'd like to see on GOG ain't going to do shit for anyone.

I wager there are enough people who have never played the console-exclusive originals - also, FM2 has never gotten a Western release to begin with- who are actually interested in these new renditions.

Funnily enough, my only ever contact with Front Mission was through Front Mission: Evolved. Never really felt the desire to play the turn based tactical games.
Wishlisted immediately.

I don't get the whining about remakes on this one, considering this is the first time Front Mission 2 has ever been available in English, even the PS2 original never recieved a completed fan translation.

I will pick it up, along with Front Mission 1. Hopefully, my dollars will someday go towards having Gun Hazard getting a remake, as that was a fine mecha-platformer.

Aside from that, I genuinely don't grok the folks who dislike remakes or remasters. They bring games back from the dead, often in better shape. My concern isn't whether or not a game is new, but whether it is good
They really should have called it Back 2 Front.

I bet if THQ Nordic had published it that is exactly what they would have called it.

Totally agree.

This is a remake of a game that never received an official translation. Sure, it might be a little pricey, but I bet more work has been put into it than Nightdives 30 dollar Star Wars remaster.

Hilarious that the people complaining about remakes don't even know what this is, they just reflexively complain for the sake of it. Very bad look.

Anyway, played the demo on Steam for a bit. It used to be that the UI in ultra-widescreen was borked, but they updated the demo and "fixed" the issue by removing the option to use ultra-widescreen resolutions at all. The original of course wasn't any kind of widescreen, but still. Also the mouse control was borderline unusable in battles; they also updated this to add a mouse sensitivity option, which helps a lot. However the M/K controls are still obviously slapped on top of the gamepad controls, e.g. you can't click on dialog options and have to use the (un-rebindable) keyboard controls. The original naturally used a gamepad so it's not the worst thing, but proper M/K support for a game like this would have been nice.

Still, the developers are responsive and this is a Front Mission I haven't played, so I'd probably buy it. But only on sale, as I have to use Wine. It's a Unity game, so native Mac/Linux support would be fairly trivial, and I only pay full price for native versions.
