Burial at sea.

Depth of Extinction is coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.

Put on your waterproof pants and power up your lightning rifle: we're going under. To the soggy remains of civilization, now completely swept away by water. You may not have much, but they want it and the only way to stop them is to fight back. Unlock 11 unique classes, assemble a crack team, collect dozens of items, and get to work. Turn-based combat, randomly generated environments, 5 factions that want you perma-dead.
Another game with randomized levels and permadeath? When's the $0.10 for twelve of them sale? Is it that hard to at least try to do hand-crafted levels with story?
It looks cool, but it’s hard to evaluate since it’s not for sale, or even finished.

Thanks for making people aware that this is a game that could maybe exist in the future.

Are developers even trying to think of something new?

It's a genre. Other genres exist. I am rather happy not every game is constructed exactly the same way. Variety is cool :).
I am in favor of randomized levels.
The game looks interesting but still not much is known.
Could be interesting. It will depend, among other things, on the price tag.
There's fights, there's pixel art, there's post apo stuff and synthwave music too ?!

Instant buy for me !
been waiting on this one! I ddi not know it was coming here. Had this on my list on Steam for a while.

i assume its an indy Game ? if so i can appreciate it and the time spend creating it....
If the game is made by larger developer or more known then i have to draw a big ?

I watched the small trailer and it is crowed imho its chaos and eevrything happens at once, i assume its a realtime game and not turnbased ?

If realtime i am out i prefer turnbased games like Jagged Alliance , if it is a shooter, i am definetly out , all the fulls creen explosions made me run away anyway, wow what an effects ( my poor sensitive eyes)

Seems the game has taken things from lots of existing formulas , few remind me of Jagged Alliance
too bad its so crowed, full with too many enemies , everyone shoots anyone and around, you have to wear sunglassess to prevent sore eyes , a game should be easy on the eyes this strains the eyes a lot .

Anyway all games like this released anywhere make me realise how fortunate i am to have the real old games ; Jagged Alliance and any related ones, simple maybe dated old games but biy those old games have atmosphere are easy on the eyes, no full screens with flying pieces of whatever.
Who made the music please? I want to listen and, maybe, purchase it. :)

It is turnbased. That's what the trailer and the game page says.
Brings to mind Underrail (while being a strategy game, not a RPG) and the classic X-Com: Ufo Defense.

Nice to see science fiction settings in modern games.

Another Unity game that'll break in a couple years due to an engine update.
Pass.

Randomly generated levels are fantastic. That's part of what makes games like X-Com so playable time and time again, it really is a different experience each time. X-Com is a perfect example because it still has a story and a path through a campaign, but it feels like new each time with so many choices and possibilities for outcomes and then procedurally generated maps. The random events throughout the campaign, what you spend most of your time doing, are what really make each playthrough unique.

I am getting kind of sick of these older graphics though. I understand games with more simple graphics are made using far lower people and budgets, but it's hard to see every new release with these graphics when you have all the modern games to compare it to. I also know a lot of people like the retro look, but I think it's overdone. When I am wanting to experience the retro stuff, I play the retro games, which is just another reason why GoG is so great... we actually can get them and play them on modern systems. The retro graphics is similar to the WW2 shooter fad around 2000. They made an awesome WW2 shooter with Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers out, it really generated a lot of interest in an authentic WW2 experience. I think the same as all those games that were made on a WW2 base (Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Call of Duty) moved on to other eras because they burned gamers out on the WW2 theme, gamers will get burned out on the retro graphics. That may end up hurting indie and small developers.

This game looks like it may be similar to X-Com and I loved X-Com, so I'll be keeping an eye on it and its price is really going to decide if I buy it in the end. Of course assuming it's a quality game.
