As we step into the month of June, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate something very important: Pride Month.

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the progress we have made towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, as well as the work that still lies ahead. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of celebrating and embracing the diverse identities and experiences that enrich our lives with different perspectives. At GOG, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but fundamental principles that drive innovation, foster collaboration, and enable us to simply grow as people, as well.

To celebrate Pride Month, our queer team members selected the variety of games containing LGBTQAI+ themes and characters, all available on GOG. Inclusive environments and diverse characters create a safe space to have fun and express yourself for all kinds of gamers!

This time, we decided to choose a slightly different approach, to make browsing LGBTQAI+ games much easier; instead of just one collection, we created a whole page and divided it into categories.

Among such, we’ve created a list of games containing masculine romance representation – we’ve gathered all the games we could think of that include romance representation between male characters. Whether it’s Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077, Kim Kitsuragi in Disco Elysium, or Nailsmith in Hollow Knight, we tried our best to get them all! If you have any other recommendations that slipped our attention though, feel free to share them with us.

Another category you’ll notice is, of course, a set of games containing female romance representation. Through the emotional story of Unpacking, walking alongside protagonists of Life is Strange, getting to know Undyne in Undertale, and even more – we’re sure they’ll all steal your hearts!

In Choose-Your-Gender category, we’ve gathered games that allow you to play around and choose your gender representation in the virtual world freely. It’s a great way to explore your own identity, as well as try to put yourself in other people’s shoes – all while being in the safety of your own game, NPCs, without an ounce of worry about judgement.

Last but not least, we’re proud to present a list of games featuring transgender characters. Representation of trans people in video games is just as important as in any other media – and we couldn’t be happier to see the number of them slowly growing. Meet Claire ( Cyberpunk 2077), Sam ( Normal Lost Phone), Jackie ( Night in the Woods), and many more!

Let’s celebrate Pride Month – and together, make love last forever!

FNReminderMan: It seems to me that this thread heavily censored and doesn't seem to reflect the values or opinions of the average user.

Thankfully telling people that is not against the forums rules.

mechmouse: I think given the huge number of companies that don't go broke, but rather increase profits, for flying the pride flag I feel you may be wrong.

But feel free to prove me otherwise by taking your business elsewhere
Most comments I saw earlier got deleted so I thought I let people know.

I'm not sure why you are trying to drive people away from this website with your comment, but I can't imagine telling people to "take their business elsewhere" can be good for said business.

mechmouse: No its not called that

Stolzmonat is a publicity stunt by the Right wing Alternative for Germany party that went viral for a short time then fizzled away

The actual Pride month, which appears to be CSD Pride is still in good health
No, it's Stolzmonat now. I have reliable sources that chancellor Scholz has already accepted this, because Stolzmonat was such a huge success on social media. He's soon going to sign legislation to make it offical. From now on it will be celebrated every year, and other countries will soon do the same, maybe yours too.

kasasensei: I never had to hide. My friends never hide. I'm half a century old. There never was witch hunt like you said. Except in horrible countries when woman and people not-doing-what-the-"norm"-or-"religious"-diktat-agrees-on, live. And those horrible countries are stillhunting people like that, but selling games, or nay stuff here will never change their life.
Maybe you simply was lucky to be french?

"Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in France have been among some of the most progressive in the world. Although same-sex sexual activity was a capital crime that often resulted in the death penalty during the Ancien Régime, all sodomy laws were repealed in 1791 during the French Revolution."
avatar
mechmouse: What you mean is you remember when Gay people had to hide away, when they couldn't hold hands in public or kiss good bye on a train, when they couldn't marry or see a loved one in hospital, back when you could pretend they didn't exist.

You are trying to turn LGBT+ people into a purely sexual act, rather than love for another person. By framing it as sexual, you can legislate against them, control them, say their relationships are unfit to be seen by children.

I'm not trying to legislate because of their tastes, I'm definitely not the one to judge people for what they should be doing it in private, love between individuals is sacred, and it's not a thing you have to talk everywhere, all the time. I love when people don't talk about their sexe life. I never talked about my sexe life and all the experiences I had. It is my treasure, that I share with my loved ones.
Well my experiences and that of friends and family in the UK are wildly different

I'm 46
I grew up with slurs, insults and violence for not conforming to cultural norms (having long hair as man and being slightly effeminate). I never truly explored my identity as a kid or teen, out or fear and shame. LGBT+ was hidden from us at school due to section 28, and was mocked and ridiculed in main stream media.

It wasn't until an Adult in the late 90s did I even get a chance to explore who I was, and decades of shame and the abuse LGBT+ friends held me back.

My daughter was born in 2000, she had abuse and violence for having short hair and having a girl friend in 2016.

You might have experienced a pocket of pure acceptance, but from the sounds of it, more likely you hid aspects of yourself from the outside world; but prejudice and bigotry didn't disappear in the 70s and if you just look at the replies on this thread its obvious its still around today.

Magnitus: Glad to hear it. Hopefully, that will translate into more moderation in these threads than we've gotten accustomed to in the past.

Some of the posts in previous threads broaching this topic have been hatefully repressive of people's core identity.

While it was definitely educational as to why there is a need for activism in the first place (for people like me who are not in that group, don't really know people in that group and are not exposed to the kind of adversity they encounter), it was also kind of ugly.

I see this hatespeach term being flung around much so il clarify some differences of what hatespeach is or isnt

Being skeptical or being critical to identy politics /personal bias is not hate speach

Threathing somone or wish they die or something simmilar is hate speach though

For instance being crititcal to religion have newer been considered as hate spech
and no one has said scintist that says religion is just a human fantasy or god doest exist
have claimred these scientists repress the religous belivers or that these scientists are spreading hate speach
Not a single newspaper have written such an article

For instance if i refuse my underage children to go in a religous parade or something simmilar
no newspaper are going to say im spreading hatespeach or repressing the religous organization because i refuse my
clidren to attend to it

Didn't know that. Let's hope that it won't kill even more people.

Got long hair, pony tail and even pigtails. Except in horrible countries I don't even want to name, I never had to hide or change. I had critics and mockery and so what? We all do regardless of any of our appearance or attitude, and it never was something I would dare qualify of "persecution" or worse. People are mocking and criticizing others for any reason whatsoever since the world exists. I grown stronger at each step of my life. And hope everyone will too.

Cant talk anymore and share my life experience from this exact point gog is trying to sell. thanks moderators. amazing job of inclusion.

N1c3_0n3: If left-handed or brown eyes people demanded representation, censored free speech or demanded additional rights - they would become political. Politics are powers relations. Any group under any characteristic that fights for rights or power makes themselves political.
I'm a leftie. If other left-handers did that it wouldn't make my existence or handedness political. If GOG decided to have a left-handed sale that'd be great :D

That's not to mention the fact that LGBT+ people aren't demanding additional rights, they're demanding the basic rights that everyone should have.

I kinda recall downright derogatory terms being flung around.

And things considered, when people say things like "I don't want to see it", it is kind of hateful.

If it is hard to visualize, imagine we were talking about ethnicity instead. Assume you singled out a certain ethnicity and publicly said "I don't want to see them, they should stay hidden". Its not great mate.

LGBT+ Pride month is ok, but if i say anything about Black History Month, my comments get removed and i get temped banned. News flash to GOG staff: LGBT+ people are also black people, its called intersectionality. You wanna do diversity, do it right.

I've had people in real life threaten to kill me. Perhaps the UK is a horrible place!
