As we step into the month of June, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate something very important: Pride Month.

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the progress we have made towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, as well as the work that still lies ahead. It’s an opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of celebrating and embracing the diverse identities and experiences that enrich our lives with different perspectives. At GOG, we firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but fundamental principles that drive innovation, foster collaboration, and enable us to simply grow as people, as well.

To celebrate Pride Month, our queer team members selected the variety of games containing LGBTQAI+ themes and characters, all available on GOG. Inclusive environments and diverse characters create a safe space to have fun and express yourself for all kinds of gamers!

This time, we decided to choose a slightly different approach, to make browsing LGBTQAI+ games much easier; instead of just one collection, we created a whole page and divided it into categories.

Among such, we’ve created a list of games containing masculine romance representation – we’ve gathered all the games we could think of that include romance representation between male characters. Whether it’s Kerry Eurodyne in Cyberpunk 2077, Kim Kitsuragi in Disco Elysium, or Nailsmith in Hollow Knight, we tried our best to get them all! If you have any other recommendations that slipped our attention though, feel free to share them with us.

Another category you’ll notice is, of course, a set of games containing female romance representation. Through the emotional story of Unpacking, walking alongside protagonists of Life is Strange, getting to know Undyne in Undertale, and even more – we’re sure they’ll all steal your hearts!

In Choose-Your-Gender category, we’ve gathered games that allow you to play around and choose your gender representation in the virtual world freely. It’s a great way to explore your own identity, as well as try to put yourself in other people’s shoes – all while being in the safety of your own game, NPCs, without an ounce of worry about judgement.

Last but not least, we’re proud to present a list of games featuring transgender characters. Representation of trans people in video games is just as important as in any other media – and we couldn’t be happier to see the number of them slowly growing. Meet Claire ( Cyberpunk 2077), Sam ( Normal Lost Phone), Jackie ( Night in the Woods), and many more!

Let’s celebrate Pride Month – and together, make love last forever!

WinterSnowfall: Perhaps a hot take, but I think that just like when it comes to politics GOG should take a neutral stance here.

Not that I don't appreciate support for any group in particular, because I think it's always good to be positive about all things, however some may not understand that support for one thing doesn't imply lack of support for any number of other things.

It's very easy to polarize people these days, although there are very few 0-sum games in this world. There's not a lot of people that have retained the ability to live and let live, but I guess it's a sign of the times.

That being said, here's a song dedicated to everyone who felt like they didn't quite belong at some point in their lives (or maybe have always felt this way): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFkzRNyygfk

Magmarock: Aren't you guys in Poland. Isn't Poland a mostly religious country with conservative values?
It has nothing to do – in a way you think it does.

Check this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xUBoVTOwtI - the only periods in history when homosexuality was penalized here in Poland are the periods when Poland did not exist. Our history is history of tolerance. Check Europe's history or simply guess why we had so many minorities, including a Jewish population of several million.

Historically Poland was always catholic country and also always tolerant. Check our Constitution of 3 May 1791, the second constitution in history, after that of the United States (unfortunately, Poland has been occupied and disappeared from the map a few years after its adoption). It's first (!) article is about religion and it says something difficult to understand to most of today's people:
The dominant national religion is and will be the Holy Roman Catholic Faith with all its laws. The transition from the dominant faith to any confession is forbidden under the penalties of apostasy. And since the same holy faith commands us to love our neighbours, we owe to all people, of whatever denomination, peace in faith and government protection, and therefore we guarantee freedom of all rites and religions in Polish countries, according to national laws.
Homosexual relations were always legal in Poland and was never an interest of state law. The whole problem of intolerance is absolutely imported here. I believe we should not participate in cultural wars of Western countries that have many sins and persecutions on their conscience and now overreact in many ways. I believe that events such as "pride month" are against the Polish tradition, which says "live your own way and don't interfere in the lives of others".

For those claiming "Politics"

Being LGBT is as political as being left handed or having brown eyes.

You don't choose to be gay or trans, they are just a part of who you are. You can't "make" anyone LGBT, just like you can't make them Straight. Having age appropriate LGBT content in schools (i.e. just saying Jenny has two dads and that fine) isn't indoctrination, no more than a visit to a synagogue or mosque. It gives kids the knowledge and language to understand themselves and other people. I grew up under section 28, I was in my 20's before I could even understand my identity, 30s before I could undo 20 years repressed thoughts.

What is political, is the repression and demonisation of those aspects, blocking peoples voices and experiences. And that repression that is back on the rise.

The current openness and by extension Pride, is about undoing centuries of forced repression and fighting its return.

People want to make it political as it validates their oppression.

Thank you, police officer. Your comment spreads the spirit of real tolerance, for sure :D
Do any of the above statements break the rules?

SargonAelther: A for profit company also has to make some decent profit to be able to monetarily donate to various causes and charities. Due to GOG's business model, they hardly ever make any profit, sometimes they straight up lose money. GOG is not Steam, nor Coca-Cola.

The fact that they are selling games DRM-Free and are trying to convince publishers to sell games DRM-Free is very charitable already. If they truly only cared about profits, they wouldn't be DRM-Free and then you could demand donations.

So the fact that they say that they support LGBTQ+ should be enough. Support comes in many forms, not just money. They promote the message and give additional visibility to games that feature LGBTQ+ content. There are tags for this content all year round too, so we should be grateful for that, rather than demanding monetary donations from a store that hardly makes any profit in the first place.
You speak as if you've seen their financial statement, which I doubt is the case. I'm sure they aren't as profitable as Steam, but a "for profit" company could not stay in business without doing, you know, profit, that's business 101.

Is being left handed or having brown eyes also a cause for pride and celebration?

Is it a cause for burning at a stake or "reeducation"?

It would be if you used to be executed for being brown eyed, or forced into conversion therapy to be right handed.

It's not politics. It's a human right.

A country's leadership, as a political entity, does not have to perfectly align with the common sense of living, breathing, carbon-based lifeforms who have something we, from a philosophical viewpoint, would dare to call “a heart”.

XYCat: ah, Gamers and hating minorities, name a more iconic duo :D

classic
It would appear, people tend to forget that the rainbow has a color for straight people too. That it is a spectrum and "non-binary" is the whole point. It is "inclusion", not "exclusion". It is intrinsically and by design not against anybody.

Just because you have to share the colors of the entire spectrum with other people doesn't mean nature would be better off being only black and white. I don't get why anybody would want to burn the full house down, only because they cannot have every single room to themselves?

The most awkward part about is when someone makes a big fuss about how they "do not care what you do in the bedroom", only to blatantly demonstrate that they very much do. Why do some people, at the sight of a rainbow, have to act like an avatar of the terrible twos, publicly stomping their feet, only to pout in self-inflicted exasperation? If some people are having a party, the appropriate thing to say is "congratulations, should we get some beer", not "why is this party not about me".
Was interested in Unsighted but i guess i have to beat Crosscode first am probably very close to beating the original game and then still need to play the dlc from Crosscode.
Will see if i will get the game Unsighted during this sale.

Nervensaegen: It's not politics. It's a human right.
Indeed, but let me show my true logical origins (planet Vulkan, live long and prosper) and state that by not joining the festivities, they are in no way hindering said human rights or denying the fact that other people should have them.

You miss the point I made in my initial post that by not showing your support for something doesn't mean you are against it, but that's not unexpected. I suppose many people will, and that's fine. It's unfortunately a very polarizing subject and when things get heated people speak from their "hearts" instead of their minds.

I would have normally said people were never marginalized for being left handed, but... in the middle ages that was sometimes regarded as being influenced by the devil, so... yeah.
