Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else notice that the bonus goodies for games that are released on GOG.com lately are either non existant or minimal. Not complaining it's just something I noticed as of late. I remeber when I first jstumbled upon GOG.com 5 years ago that games came with some good digital goodies. It also may depend on the developer/publisher? Love to hear your thoughts!

It is ultimately up to the dev or pub. In the case of a lot of new games, the dev or pub decides to sell them separately or as part of a special edition of some kind.
Buying games back then (the classics) versus buying games of today are very different these days. Developers/Publishers are trying to squeeze every dime to be made. Add that the OSTs are contracted differently, I suspect, so the producers those get more royalties.

This is not news. Every single item nowadays is pre-order bonus, dlc, or separate item. Even the manual in some cases is now dlc. Next up they will be selling each bit of data separetely - no let me correct that, they will be renting you each bit of data via a streaming service.

I just need to have a look at the bonus goodies of "Fallout Classic" from my shelf and compare them with the goodies listed on the store page of "Fallout".

On my shelf:
Manual
HD wallpaper
Fallout series wallpaper
Fallout Bible
Reference card
Soundtrack
Avatars
Vault Boy avatars
Artworks

On the store page:
manual
true it's a sad trend that now all the goodies are either way for special editions or preorders or the likes

Wow, really? Can you give some examples of games that sell manuals as DLC?

Had this discussion in several posts before, can't remember the name of the one provided to me now, but I was quite suprised as well, was just joking when I posted back then, but someone provided the name of a game which had the manual as seperate DLC. If only the search functionality worked here.

But they also don't sell those items seperately, do they?
So they are not even trying to make money off those materials.

In an age where basic gameplay mechanics are affected by microtransactions, and integral parts of game are sliced and later sold as DLCs, nothing seems outrageous anymore. It's a sad state indeed.

This is so true! Especially when GOG re-released the classic Fallout games and they didn't include the bonus goodies that were included before.
You want cake you bake yourself. GOG's cake was a lie.

You're referring to this one if I'm not mistaken.

We're also discussing it with the recent release of Avernum 3:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_avernum_3_ruined_world_c16c7/post4

The pdf of the manual is in the DLC although further on in that thread, it;s mentioned there's a built into the game manual:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_avernum_3_ruined_world_c16c7/post17

Skimming the developer's website, it appears that way for most if not all of their games.

GOG promised us there would be cake. I am disappoint.
