JudasIscariot: Hi all,

Just wanted to give you a quick heads up:

We've reached out to the publisher and today we've received a new version of Outcast - Second Contact with the latest possible updates. Apologies for the hassle and inconvenience.
Hi Judas, just bought it and wondering if the updated installer is only gonna be available on Galaxy at the moment since it says Version: gog-1, Date Published: 24/1/2018 in the browser. If so, when should I expect it available for download from the website?

We haven't updated the game yet for Galaxy or the offline installers. Once the updated version is tested both versions (Galaxy and offline) will be updated at the same time.

Will the developer support the game in the future?

It would be nice if the developer went through the forum section of this game.

IFW: Everything is a manual process at GOG,
So they hate automation and still live in the agriculture time. The moar you know.

On topic: Mishaps can happen, we are only human. But it appears that multiple people talked to the publisher and were ignored, but if some bigshot is contacting them they suddenly listen. That's a little shitty.

IFW: Yes, it was released with Denuvo on steam - not sure whether it was later really removed or not.

Everything is a manual process at GOG, and thanks to that it's easy to miss things like patches.
Ideally, the developer could just push updates like on steam, but...
I've already asked on the Outcast release thread.
Actually, I believe developers can push updates to Galaxy through the dev portal, GOG then has to package them up for the installers.

Unfortunately you can count those devs who do that here on GOG on one hand.

That is correct but it is up to the devs if they WANT to use the automatic way to update Galaxy.

Well exactly. I'm just saying they don't have the old excuse any more...

Of course. I just wanted to add this "it's up to the devs" part since people sometimes still are wondering why even Galaxy sometimes won't get updated the same day Steam is.

Good to see the rocky release getting back on track, but you might want to pause and contemplate for a bit what getting an outdated by (at least?) 2 patches version to release, and getting the updated one only after reaching out to the pub, may indicate.

IFW: Either GOG had this version since last year and was not aware of the new patches [...]
Even if GOG had this version since before the patches were released, I don't see why the pub couldn't have sent GOG the updated ones as they became available.

Perhaps some want to hold on to that old excuse...?

But if you don't buy GOG games, GOG goes out of business.

It is not logical to buy a game that the developer does not support.

You have to have very little embarrassment to put an old version of the game when the developer has the new one.

Hopefully this developer does not return to gog, we do not need people like him.
Outcast has been updated to Patch 2 hotfix.

This is good news. But I have a question, what are we going to do in the future if the developer adds new updates?

We have had the current updates thanks to gog.com because the developer does not want to know anything about the version of his game in gog.

Oh "they" do. Here is what the devs of Pharaonic just told me:

"We'll see if we can release an update there, as updating a game on GOG is a longer and more complex process, while on Steam all it takes is literally a single click."
