I just looked up Denuvo.... Fernbus simulator uses it. XD
After reading this, I downloaded the game to check it and saw that, indeed, the two updates from the Steam version are missing.

boztix: There are users who have already requested money back for the absence of updates. Gog should talk to the game developers.

amok: gOg updates are slow as they are manually packed and tested. this process takes time. they may already have the files, but are working on them / testing them
Right you are

Ooookay, are you sure? These updates contain all the controls enhancements!! :(

Anyone tried to run this game on 4 GB RAM?

SirPrimalform: While I appreciate there is sometimes a problem with devs not updating their games here, didn't it only come out a few days ago? Too early to be jumping to conclusions.

timppu: As far as I could tell from the Steam pages for the game, it came out on Steam in Nov 14 2017. Since then, it has apparently had two updates, patch1 in Nov 22, and patch2 Dec 6. Both patches seem to have had critical fixes, like fixing crashes and memory leaks.

Considering the game came out only now on GOG, do I understand the OP right that these patches were not integrated to the GOG version already now? That would be very odd indeed, why would the publisher release a non-upgraded version to GOG much later?
My mistake, I foolishly assumed that GOG had it day one and it was just a very recent game.

The first patch adds audio options in the settings. Well, the GOG versions does not have any audio option whatsoever anywhere. Also, no "vibrant colors", true fullscreen or any other new options according to the changelogs from Steam.

The attachment is the menu options from the GOG version.

Luckily, for other reasons, I've decided not to buy Outcast - Second Contact, but it's just as well.

Now, I've said it before, and that is, why don't developers/publishers give GOG permission to rip patches off the steam game versions for the express purpose of manually updating the GOG versions?

I mean, I understand it takes time and possibly resources maintaining extra versions, even though personally, it's bullshit not updating a game on any platform that you chose to sell it on. But, what if you don't have to do any work? Then what's the excuse?

It's like, these devs are just determined to sell an inferior version on GOG or something. They don't want to do anything, they don't let GOG do anything, what gives?

Damn, was gonna get this in the next couple of days, will wait to see progress on those patches being applied
Gog should suspend the sale of this game until the issue has been resolved.

You can not allow a game to be sold in your store where the developer / distributor does not respond to any message which is disrespectful to users.

Those who have bought it can be able to refund for a month if I'm not mistaken

Hi all,

Just wanted to give you a quick heads up:

We've reached out to the publisher and today we've received a new version of Outcast - Second Contact with the latest possible updates. Apologies for the hassle and inconvenience.

Thanks for the update.

It's really mind boggling that this happened. We're (sadly) used to games getting abandoned shortly after release, but to be given a 2 month old version at launch is another thing entirely. =/

Thank you very much, but it is amazing that they published the version of the game and abandoned it.

If it's not for you the publisher would never have updated the game. It's a shame.

In any case you should control more editors like these to avoid these problems.

If companies like Plug and Digital are not going to support games that add to gog better, do not let those companies sell gog games.

Anyway, thank you very much for your attention. A 10 for gog.

Because it won't work that easily for most cases. GOG version and Steam version are not always completely the same. I tried this myself with Darksiders 2 Deathinitive edition which was fixed on Steam but not on GOG for quite sone time and I was unable to get the Steam files work with GOG or vice versa.

Thank you Judas for telling us and getting the updates here. But I am with the rest wondering how this can even happen AT ALL? I mean you know the update problem here on GOG just like the rest of us and it's hard enough to contact all those devs who are just too plain LAZY to update their games here while they don't have any problems still getting money from GOG customers and updating Steam again and again. It's a bad thing but releasing the game here in an outdated state first day not including those patches is even worse: it's a slap in the face for every GOG customer AND GOG itself. And just to say it directly: I like Outcast and I was thinking about buying this but the pure fact that the devs even had the audacity to give GOG an outdated version to relase is now leading to the fact that I won't buy thid or any other game from these devs in future. Sorry for GOG but things like this just CANNOT happen! If you like you can forward my post to the devs so they see what they did. We are people as well, our money is worth the same and we are NOT second class citizens and devs should finally realize this!

One issue resolved, one to go. :)

So, about that 6 GB minimum....

Yeah I wasn't quite sure either so I had to check. I had all forgotten about this remake, I already thought we had a "remake" with Outcast 1.1 on GOG.

Anyway, now that the issue is resolved, I might just as well get it on GOG. Was there still some cosmetic DLC missing?

Also, I am wondering that the Steam version hasn't been updated since Dec 6 either (maybe a DLC appeared later, not sure). So is the game now fine and stable and all with no glaring issues, or has the developer just stopped updating it, also on Steam?
