I would like to see them revoke the games I have purchased on GOG, and nicely backed up on multiple devices in separate locations. This is precisely THE reason to shop at GOG, I get the product I keep it. If your relying on a store to hold your games, then you should be prepared to lose them. Much like save games or anything else tied to the internet, your handing power back to those companies, don't be surprised if they use it.

Okay, this is the last time I'm going to address you, because you still refuse to see the real issue:

your games weren't revoked by GOG because someone legitimately bought a crapton of keys in a cheap bundle and then resold them via G2A or any other site. They were revoked because they were purchase with stolen credit cards and sold on to people like you that just want the cheap deals and don't give a single critical thought as to why they're so cheap.

If people want to grab scads of keys legitimately in bundles, then sell them later at a profit, have at it. As long as they were legitimately bought and paid for, who cares. But, again, this is not the case in the situation where your or anybody else's keys are revoked and/or games removed from your shelf by GOG. They were removed because they were basically stolen goods.

If you still can't see the issue with resellers like G2A being an outlet for these fraudulently purchased keys (and offering fraudulent 'protection' of those key purchases) - and subsequently why GOG (or any other business) might decide to remove these fraudulent keys/games from your account, then you're either being willfully ignorant or you're just plain stupid.

That's my final 2 cents. Have at whatever reply you wish, but I'm out.

As I understand it, the problem is that some of the keys have been bought using stolen credit cards. I haven't used G2A myself, but I had some experience with another grey market site called ebay. There, I always checks the reviews of the seller, to avoid nasty surprises. Can't the same strategy be used on G2A to avoid those credit card fraud sellers?

Probably not, because that's how they make big money. The fraudulent sellers are their top rated sellers.

I want to do that myself. Unfortunately I'm running out of space. I'll probably get an external hard drive and download the installers there. I had a situation around early March where my PC crashed and I had to reformat it. Getting everything back was a pain. There were a few titles that took me a day to download because the size was so large.

Yes, this will always be an ongoing struggle. I started off burning to cd, then through various sizes of external hdd, then internal drives in a hot swap drive, now I use multiple raid setups and external drives and free file sync to manage them. Also, use a good database to maintain a list of it from the start, its better than trying to do it when you have terabytes of info to go through.

My frustration with GOG was that there was no warning or mention that they had even pulled those titles.

What if things grow more authoritarian over the next decade and they just start pulling games from our library they no longer sell anymore because they're not supportive of Christianity?

Secondly, I don't wish to benefit from credit card fraud but given the political argument around key selling 'Card Fraud' is a dandy little red herring to try and undermine key sales.

There is ALOT of espionage going on in the software world when it comes to companies and developers trying to ruin one another.

Take for instance Malwarebytes only ever uncovering Advanced System Care as a potentially unwanted program to get revenge for ASC revealing MB's unlock serial, through reg scans, during MB's earlier releases when they were not as careful with hiding their serials.

If you check back GOG forums around 2009 / 2010
I created a thread pointing out that Steam forums had TF2 hat traders
and I asked everyone if they thought it possible that Steam would allow us to start
trading Humble Bundle keys as well.

I also asked Steam

Within a week's time the TF2 trade board started allowing for key swaps and sales
Which carried over to GOG and other forums

So I may have, indirectly, influenced the game trading market six or seven years ago

Key shops were in existence before I brought up the trading idea but there were not as many of them
and they had more notoriety back then where as now they seem to be more widely trusted.

Yeah, that one kind of threw me too. :P
