It certainly would seem that the story is much more complicated than many initially wished to accept. While victims should always be heard, truth should be the highest priority... even higher than "justice." Why? Because "justice" without truth can be contorted and manipulated -- weaponized.

I fear that social media -- once thought to break the rule of "manufactured opinion" in traditional media -- has become "mob rule" sans due process. The megaphone of social media is magnifying everything to the end of careers, lives, the world. Social media was supposed to illuminate truth instead of ushering us into a "post-truth" world.

Profoundly sad

Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Spectre: Has any real journalist found a cause of death or even proper evidence of a death such as a report of a coroners investigation?
A funeral is overdue.

GameRager: K then....I won't delve further as this has already derailed a bit, but I get what you're trying to say.

If you ever want to chat on such where it won't derail, btw, feel free to PM me or what have you. :)

vsr: OK.

PS: I was confined in GOG's Concentration Camps (<-- this is the proper term) too, btw (for suggesting Ukrainians to use coal power plants -__- instead of nuclear ones).
I was trying to be more funny and go along with the russian vibe I was setting up for the reply, and also to not go to "that stuff" as it might offend a few people.

As for power: I think thorium would be good for nuclear and better than coal for pollution levels, but most people fear all nuclear so we'll likely never see it in the near future.

(After this I am stopping as I am derailing this thread a bit....I just felt this post worthy of a reply)
When posting things about others on social media, it would do well to remember that (in the US) if you knowingly post something false that directly contributes to a person's death, you can be charged with manslaughter..

I think that's your (and other's) main mistake. Social media's purpose is to ease communications between people. Thinking that it could also provide some sort of "truth illumination" is very naive, and relying on that is very dangerous.

Unless you work for media company large enough to hire best lawyers.

StationaryNomad: Hey, haven't seen you around for a while. Were you on vacation? On some sunny beach, right?
Well, at least now we know who deserves our undying gratitude for that.

This is a topic about an unfortunate incident. But some users were commenting here with totally unrelated jokes (we've deleted them already).

Please be respectful, and stay on-topic, or we'd have to lock this thread.

Since there's attention from staff now:
What happens to Aquaria and Night in the Woods?
Is there any danger of the games being removed here?

At least for Night in the Woods that shouldn't be the case. According to backer updates IP and rights are owned by Scott Benson and Bethany Hockenberry.

No. The soundtrack is Alec Holowka's work. But it isn't sold here anyway.
They tried to kill off another indie dev on social media, but this one didn't kill himself and reacted verbally instead:
http://weatherfactory.biz/what-actually-happened/
http://weatherfactory.biz/blood-sport-call-out-culture-from-the-other-side/

It seems as though it only needs one bad ex to get the stone rolling and then suddenly misandristic women appear waiting for the chance to claim equal things just to bring him down.
This has seriously gotten out of hand and isn't only damaging the falsely accused, but also actual victims of abuse when they decide to speak out.

Yeah, we're at the point where far too many are conflating being a dick with being abusive. No, they're not the same thing and putting them in the same ballpark is insulting to those who've suffered actual abuse.

Didn't you hear? Being offensive to someone is punishable by loss of career, loss of peace of mind, possibly loss of life, loss of a clear means to make a living for your family, and being subject to constant abuse and death threats yourself.

Indeed and I'm going to be one of the first to laugh my backside off when these online lynch mobs start targeting women and people of color.

It's one thing to call out bad behavior and then boycott people engaged in it, but this whole online lynch mob mentality frequently goes well above and beyond that.
