Well, I mean I heard it in a joke thread like 4 months ago, but whatever. I heard it.

I don't know how serious he is but shit like that doesn't just happen. over one thing. one thing one guy made.

this crap pisses people off and just undermines everything. why gog hasn't handed out bans I do not know. you go on the steam forums, via google or other search engine. any you hit up any thread, whatever it was related to your search. you'll see three or so people are banned. at least one. that's them dealing with harassers and other shit.

it's active. it's every day all over the main forum for like a year or more. and it's still like nothing. no response at all. silence from them despite you hearing lots of different people said they told them about it.

when they start to lose money.

problem, they won't start to lose it gradually and easy fix back to where it was.

it'll just be all of a sudden or fall in with some other things, and in retrospect, should've handed out warnings or something hm.

so on.

My advice? Get a lurcher puppy! It's impossible to be unhappy, especially when they sneak up behind you and start licking your elbow as you're trying to type something, as the one behind me has just done. :-D

EDIT: Yes, I wasn't going to type the above, but I completely forgot what my original point was going to be -- I had to leave the keyboard to go and provide temporary entertainment. :-)

Fair enough, but it really doesn't matter, and letting the trolls know they are actually succeeding in pissing someone off is a terribly poor way of fighting them.

Well, technically he was constantly banning himself. Then we 'educated' him about mother nature and got him to understand that if he applied himself he could ban with the members of the opposite sex. Apparently the concept blew his mind and he disappeared again for several days.

well the people who i think are doing the downrepping of the ones i'm particularly discussing, i think are non-troll regulars who just have a bone to pick. i don't think it's so bad asking them not to pick that bone there.

and if people can't be decent enough to leave a few nice places, well that's on them.

hmm, the down-repping seems to be happening slowly. someone must have made a program to target certain people.

now now, let's not attack people. because there's nonsense going on and it's been going on for a while. eventually even something small can piss someone off. I generally don't go in much for internet drama.

but what it is is evidence that people care about something. and that trumps any kind of objective perspective from a certain frame of reference on something.

In E's case, though, I really can't even understand what his problem is at all. If someone can't see posts from people they dislike, they at least won't fly off the handle and make antagonistic shit replies to those people. No, it's not ideal, but it's better for antisocial hotheads to isolate themselves than have them attacking everyone they disagree with, making the forum that much more unpleasant for all.

That has got to be one of the best non sequiturs I've seen in a while. =)
I think somebody made a userscript that hides rep and stars, as well as the "rate this post" mouseover options. Maybe try installing that, rather than abandoning ship?
