My flat has no garden, no balcon. I do gardening in a local city owned garden for educational purposes.

Gardening can be very relaxing and rewarding. I also live in an apartment but tend to many potted plants, even a set of bell pepper cultivars that I've planted myself as an experiment... and which are now bearing fruit :).

Veggie gardening is on the enormous to-do list for this new-to-us property. Got some other big things to deal with first but hopefully next year. I guess we can start small with container gardens that can be moved around...

right now we have roses out of our ass, oregano, kohlrabi, zucchini, and some less than stellar tomato bushes.

There were also some lupines in the garden last night but those are gone now, so I suspect that Thomas Moore is in the area. We must be alert.

Oh, the growing pains...

Don't get me started on the thorns.

Just shows that you neither need a garden nor a balcony to plant shit.

Yes, of course it`s not our weapon factories and the killing machines we sell to every fucking dictatorship and warzone in the world, it`s not our ruthless ressource policy to rapepillage every country that has something we want; no no no sir.
Not the world wide system of slavery aka "the free market" that provides north america and northen europe with the wealth we citizens are enjoying in our mindless and frantic ressource scourging consumerism.
No that`s not the problem.
It`s the people. Those that manage to flee from this war- and slavezones to places that are less horrible to live in.
But thank god we are the good ones. Whenever I wake up I am so glad when realizing I`m with the good ones.

I have to admit I find both gardening and fishing very boring, but nice that some people enjoy them. We had a garden when I was a kid, growing some strawberries and other berries, potatoes, carrots etc., and a separate flower garden, and I simply hated it if I was told to do something there, or if I had to mow the lawn or rake the leaves, god damn I hated especially that. My mother seemed to enjoy them though.

Fortunately Finnish summer is pretty short so it didn't last for many months, three at worst (June-August), In winter one might have to plow snow but that wasn't as bad and as frequent.

Fishing i tried numerous times as a kid at our summer cottages, and never really enjoyed it. Meeeeeh! In fact i kept hoping I don't catch any fish because I didn't want to hurt them.

Why would someone vandalize them? We have such "city gardens" as well that one can rent and grow stuff there in the summers, and they seem very popular with a long waiting queue for new customers.

Maybe someone might want to pick something someone else has grown, but I don't really see the point in that either as you can get much better tomatoes and potatoes from a grocery store for mere coins. One would have to be VERY poor to try to rob some underdeveloped carrots or potatoes for food from someone else's garden.

Don't ask me. They have some in capital and I've seen in news that they've been vandalized repeatedly. They had to close some of them because of that.

Probably it's some random vandal acts, like kids being edgy. But I remember that one of the gardens was vandalized in a more sophisticated manner. They for example waited until the tomatoes are almost ripe and then crushed them all and dug the plants. It looked like they do it out of spite of something.

EDIT:
There are some poor people here who do it all the time in the countryside. Or rob the vegetables and sell them on the market afterwards.

Why should someone destroy it in the first place, I don`t understand. Maybe you`re from the US and other than there here in germany society has not broken down yet.
