Anyone else getting these insanely low download speeds on GOG?

I checked Steam and got 10 Mbs.
I'm getting usual speeds. Two ideas come to mind - first, since there's a special sale, you might have been trying to download at a moment that servers were getting hammered. Second, what's your ISP?

I have Cox as an internet provider, but as I said before, other downloads are fine.

You said Steam downloads were fine; that's not the same thing. Cox has for years used aggressive traffic shaping, which is the sterile-sounding term for internet throttling. It's reasonable, since your country is listed as USA, to wonder if you could be getting throttled access. It is of course *more* likely that you were hitting GOG servers at high load, but especially lately it's always good to ask about ISPs.

It's back to normal. I guess it was a high volume of traffic, but of all the years I have used GOG, I never saw download speeds anywhere near that bad.

It's not that uncommon, especially during big sales and events like these.
200kbps? I wish.
In the U.P going that fast is considered witchcraft.

He(?) 's a witch! Burn her!

I've mentioned before that I run a webhosting company that caters to soccer moms and internet speeds are a common complaint.

Without seeing a tracert though, it hard to give any advice.

Having said that, there are quite a few choke points in the US. A couple of them are handoffs between companies where the company doesn't want to upgrade and/or the two companies are blaming each other for handoff's problems.

And anyone on the old Charter networks with their still broken proxies? Well we just send up a prayer for.

edit: Just for reference, do we know if and with whom GoG and Steam uses for CDN services? Or are they internal?
