Hi guys,

everytime I want to launch Fallout 1 after few seconds I got this message: "Error initializing video mode 640x480". Please do you know what to do with that?

I get that problem too. This is the first time running games AT ALL on Windows 7 so it should be interesting finding the solution.
It's frustrating since I was so excited to get back into it
First see if the falloutw.exe is running in compatibility mode, if it is turn it off. If that doesn't work download and install the unofficial patches and the High resolution patch.
This happens to me, but only after applying new widescreen settings. It works fine in 640x480, but if i set the resolution to something else say, 1280x720, i get the error.

Try turning down the bit color or raising it.

It works only in 8-bit colour and lags terribly, so this thread helped. Deleted ddraw.ini and now it runs smooth with widescreen and 32-bit colour.

EDIT: Ah, sorry i did mean "ddraw.dll".

My folder doesnt contain a Fallout.exe just the fallout shortcut plz help!!!
It should be labeled 'falloutw.exe'. Try doing a general PC search. If that doesn't work uninstall and re-install the game.
