I bought FO Tactics last night and installed it via GOG. The problem I'm having is when I try to get xfire to manually recognize the game by going to c:_programfiles(x86)_FalloutTactics despite having the file to start the game in that directory, I get an error that the file cannot be found.
Can anyone offer a solution for how to get the GOG version of FO Tactics to be recognized by Xfire? Thanks in advance.
(Note: For those of you unfamiliar with xfire it's a chat program that you can use while you play your games www.xfire.com It works while you're ingame and offers a way to keep in touch with your friends while you play, and also keeps track of how much time you spend playing games)

I manually set it to bypass the GOG folder, I don't have any of my games saved to that path. Thanks though.
For my games it's set to c:_programfiles(x86)_GameFolderName where GameFolderName is the name of the game folder it wants to set by default.
I prefer to have each folder save off programfiles(x86) so it's easier for me to find, and that saves having an extra folder on my HDD that I don't need (imho)

you know there came a point in my life, where I started saying f**k it when it came to file reordering and what not, because my HDD was so big, I just really didn't care any more. I'm probably never going to use up 500gigs.

Hehe yes I can relate to what you're saying.
However I still haven't been able to get xfire to recognize the GOG version of FOT. Any help would be appreciated. ;)

I may be mistaken, but after just a little bit of time with Xfire, I think what you need to do is point specifically to the directory above the installer
i.e.
c:/programfiles/somefolder/fallouttactics/fallouttactics.exe would mean
c:/programfiles/somefolder/fallouttactics/
but I haven't finished downloading fallout tactics yet.
edit:
bad news, happens during download with the downloader and without. also, when trying to check file integrity, the program flips out, eats up all my cpu and forces me to restart. :(

Well I discovered what the problem is.
Xfire looks for fallouttactics.exe or something along those lines, when the .exe that the GOG version uses is BOS.exe
So that's where the problem is, and I don't see a solution. I can't figure out how to get xfire to recognize a different .exe than the one it automatically assigns to a game.
Basically I think we can call this thread dead, since there's no solution.

Actually there is a work around, I just can't remember exactly what it is. I figured the issue you're describing is what was the actual issue, but I was hoping not to go there.
There's a way you can create a .exe (using a simple text editor) that'll be basically just a dosprompt to run Fallout Tactics via command line.

Here is the best answer that I have, you'll want to create a textfile and name it uninst.isu and put it in your fallouttactics directory, then copy your bos.exe file and rename it fallouttacticslauncher.exe
These steps work best if you've turned off 'hide known file types'
once you've done this, you can start up fallout tactics just fine through xfire, I even got it to recognize the game by itself.

Marked above as solution. I don't want to mess around making new .exe files and such so I'll just go without xfire, but thanks for the info regarding this issue.

To get xfire to detect Fallout Tactics is very simple, you don't need to change any files. You just need to create two blank files called FalloutTacticsLauncher.exe and uninst.isu in your Fallout Tactics directory. This can be done very easily within Windows
Just right-click in the directory, choose New, choose Text Document, then name it FalloutTacticsLauncher.exe. Repeat to create another blank file, and name it uninst.isu. Restart Xfire and voila. You can run the original BOS.exe file and keep your old shortcuts with no problems.
