Hi, I've recently purchased Crysis on GOG due to it having x64 binaries. For some reason if I install any mods the game will just quit to desktop after about 10 minutes of gameplay with no apparent error message what so ever. I've ran the game without any mods and it seems to run perfectly.

I've tried the following mods "2018 HD Textures" and "Immersion Mod"

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem, I'm installing the mods into the Game folder directory so I don't think I'm installing them incorrectly. I've ran the game exes in compatibility mode as well with admin privileges but to no avail.

Default game though runs perfect, but the above mods worked on Steam and DVD version.

Intel i7 8700k
GTX1080 (latest driver installed)
Windows 10 x64

Nevermind I managed to fix it myself. If anyone of you crashes to desktop with no error simply check Windows Reliability Monitor. It will show the files related to crash. For me Crysis64.exe was the culprit. To fix it I simply found the Binary files online and replaced the Crysis64.exe file in my Crysis/Bin64 folder.

Seems to be a issue for me on the GOG version where that file kept crashing with no errors popping up, like I quit to desktop.

I’m having the exact same problem, what file did you use?

EDIT: Warhead also gives the same problems.

EDIT 2: Also, every Bin64 folder I find gives me an "insert CD" error, so I can't use them.

The game still looks good enough without any texture mods, but I'd still like to be able to use them eventually.

Want to give a quick update years later, but it seems like at least with the HD Textures 2018, if you don't use the Objects pak file and just use the Texture one, it'll run fine. I'm early in testing, though, so I'll update it if it ends up crashing hard again as I recall the issue gets worse as time goes on.

For anyone that has the same Problem, i upload the fixed crysis64.exe to my Dropbox and with that it runs without a Problem now.

For me it was the GPU. I have a Zotac GTX 1070 AMP!, which is basically a factory overclocked GTX 1070.
Initially I maxed out the settings because why not: 3440 x 1440: very high, 8x antialiasing. Which made the GPU run at about 99% utilization. Normally (with other games) there is nothing wong with that (my system is quite stable), but this game seems to bring the GPU to its knees.
So in early/mid game it crashed at least 1x per hour or 2 hour. But at the end game (alien exosuit) it just kept crashing, not possible to continue. I had an idea that maybe it is kind of crashing the GPU. So I put settings to only "high" and turned off antialiasing, and maxed the FPS to 60 (with MSI Afterburner / Rivatuner -> in Rivatuner see "Framerate limit"). With these settings it took down the GPU usage to 45-65 %.
I did not try which setting is important, just wanted to finish the game.
With these settings it got much more stable, but at first time it managed to crash in the ending cut scene (which seems to utilize the GPU more than normal gameplay). So finally I was able to finish the game after much hassle.

I think this might be useful, so I'll share it. The following is stated in the instructions of the Crysis Enhanced mod:

"This mod is meant to be used with the 32 bit version of the game, as the 64 bit is globally unstable with custom
textures and objects."

How is this relevant to the issue at hand? Well, I was running the Crysis Maximum Immersion mod, which features custom textures and objects, with the 64 bit executable (Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe) and the game would crash every 15 mins or so. It wasn't crashing before while running the vanilla game. Even if Crysis Enhanced is way more demanding than Crysis Maximum Immersion, it still only functions properly with the 32 bit executable. So I thought, "Why not try running the 32 bit executable (Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe) with Crysis Maximum Immersion to see if it's actually more stable?". And boy, I was able to play for around 40 mins with no crashes.

So, for everybody that is struggling to keep the game running with graphics mods without crashing, try the 32 bit executable. It might fix the problem.

Same problem here but I'm not using mods, just Crysis out of the box. Random crashes after 10 to 20 minutes or longer sometimes, and with no error message - just crash straight to desktop. I installed DX 2010 as per PCGamingWiki. Not much else I can do. I could bother posting my system specs but what's the point?

Aren't you supposed to have 64-bit games in Program Files (x64) instead of (x86)?
