Hej Folks,

just wanted to mention that I've released my Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty Mission Pack today. It adds 6 new missions to the game, set in various fictitious locations in Germany, 1943.

Currently, the pack can be found on ModDB and weights around 55mb.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/commandos-bcd-mission-pack

To get it running, follow the installation instructions mentioned on the ModDB profile or in the readme.

STEP ONE: You will have to extract your “war_mp.dir” file in the Commandos: BCD game path (usually the “coman_mp” folder, but not necessarily). To do this, you can use the DirExtractor. After all files have been extracted into your Commandos: BCD game folder, the “war_mp.dir” must be removed or renamed to something else.

STEP TWO: Run the Mission Pack Installer and chose your Commandos: BCD game path. The installer will patch the “MISIONES.DAT” file in “DATOS\MISIONES\” so that the new missions will always be played first on a new game start. If you have finished the mission pack, the game will continue with the next available mission, which is usually the main games content.

STEP THREE: Use the High-Resolution Hack and play the game in a higher resolution! My personal suggestion for widescreen users: 1280x720px

Lexx:
Did you design these yourself?
Yes, I started working on it around 2012. The graphics are mainly taken from the main game (BEL and BCD), but everything else (map layout, etc.) is done 100% from scratch.

I'm in the middle of some other stuff now but I've downloaded everything, I'll hook it up in the next day or so and if you want I can give you a review. :P Commandos 1 and 2 are easily on my top ten games of all time list. *ahem* Commandos 3 ISN'T!

I can't get it to work. I get the music but nothing else.
I need more details. How did you install it and what happens.

I followed your instructions word for word (minus the optional high res patch) and when I start the game I get a black screen but I can hear the music. The only way to get it off is cntr-alt-delete.
I tested it with a fresh installation with the GOG setup file and it all works.

Did you renamed the war_mp.dir file? Because if you don't do it, the mission pack won't work and result in exactly the problem you've mentioned.

Btw. I also noticed now that the latest GOG installer doesn't have the "coman_mp" folder anymore. Instead it is called "Commandos 1 Beyond The Call Of Duty" - this one then is the correct installation folder.

GOT IT.
The problem was for some reason it wasn't extracting everything it needed to. So I extracted the war_mp into a separate temp file and then just copied that into the correct game folder and now she's working great.

Thank you.

Good to hear. :) I actually also had problems with extracting this time... Guess it's better to extract everything into a new folder first and then move it manually.

Wish I could make the setup a bit easier. The extraction-part is making it more a hassle that it could be.

It's not your fault, I'm just not used to that extractor. I'm not going to be able to give it a good play just yet but I took a peek and so fat your presentation is very nice. I think it's so cool you are doing stuff like this. When I was in high school I used to make Lode Runner levels and give them out to classmates but that was a LITTLE different. :P

I've just uploaded a new version (2.149) to ModDB. Quite a few things have changed by now:

Mission Cold Landing:
- Tweaked soldier placement.

Mission Panzerzug:
- Added: All tents are accessible now.
- Fixed: Object and sector issues.
- Upgraded map visuals and
- Tweaked soldier placement.

Mission Heavy Hands:
- Added: Telephone to the north and south of the map.
- Added: All tents are accessible now.
- Minor graphic tweaks and
- Tweaked soldier placement.

Mission Hammerfall:
- Added: Destructible buildings.
- Added: Rain weather effect
- Fixed: The train now stops at the station now every turn
- Upgraded map visuals and layout.
- Tweaked soldier placement.

Mission Lights Out:
- Fixed: A small, but annoying sector issue.
- Fixed: A tiny graphic issue.
- Upgraded map visuals and layout.
- Tweaked soldier placement.

Generic changes:
- Added: Tool-tips for mission objectives in all maps.
- Added: Music tracks from Commandos 2 and 3.
- Added: New SDKFZ 3 vehicle graphic.
- Added: New bonus mission.
- Added: New character hotkey system.
- Adjusted inventory sets of the Commandos (only the Driver and Sapper have handcuffs now).
Additionally, I made the installer a little more pretty when I had the time for it.

Installing the new version is as simple as always: Download the installer, run it, point to the Beyond the Call of Duty folder and done. If there is already an older version of the mission pack installed, delete it first with the uninstaller. Then there shouldn't be any problems at the end.

Hello
I have problem with version 2.149. I cant install her. I have BCDMissions_v2.149.exe , when i start, select folder with games, then click install ... very quick! i saw " skipped:... " , but my folder with games still has the same size...
WTF ? In my opinion DIrextractor doesnt unpack wir_mp.dir ... i dont know why...
i dont unpack wir_mp.dir in dirextractor manually .. "write: permission denied" ...

When i install version 1.1.2 instalation is good, it takes a little longer, but all is okey.
It's worth to play this old version ??
Hey Lexx.

I bought Commandos during the Summer Sale on your recommendation. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'll give you some feedback on your missions when I get the chance. It might take some time though.
Ok, i worked it out.
Run as administrator in Vista... ech... that was so easy ...
